The synthesis of cyclopentanoid antibiotic Kjellmanianone is described in this study. The C-acylation of lithium enolates of 3-Methoxycyclopentenone by N-carbomethoxyimidazole or methylcyanoformate beta-ketoester, which when oxidized with Mn(III) acetate produces kjellmanianone in good yield.

Multiple drug resistance patterns and plasmid profiles of non-typhi salmonellae in Turkey
Yildirmak, T; Yazgan, A; Özcengiz, Gülay (1998-10-01)
A total of 259 clinical isolates of nonrepetitive non-typhi salmonellae (NTS) were examined for antibiotic resistance patterns and plasmid content. The antibiotics used were amoxicillin-clavulanic acid (AMC), ampicillin (AM), aztreonam (ATM), carbenicillin (CB), cefixime (CFM), cefotaxime (CTX), cefoxitin (FOX), ceftazidime (CAZ), ceftriaxone (CRO), chloramphenicol (C), ciprofloxacin (CIP), gentamicin (GM), imipenem (IPM), ofloxacin (OFX), tetracycline (TE), trimethoprim-sulfomethoxazole (SXT). Multi-drug r...
Exploring the relationship between cytoplasmic ion content variation and multidrug resistance in cancer cells via ion-release based impedance spectroscopy
Demircan Yalçın, Yağmur; Sukas, Sertan; Töral, Taylan Berkin; Gündüz, Ufuk; Külah, Haluk (2019-07-01)
This study aimed to measure and compare the cytoplasmic ion concentrations of the parental cells and their drug resistant progenies. High-level laboratory and clinically-relevant multidrug resistance (MDR) cell line models were developed and investigated for K562 and CCRF-CEM cells, respectively. Measurements were achieved using a modified version of ion release-based impedance spectroscopy (IRbIS), where the average total ion concentration per cell was determined by measuring the variations in solution con...
The effects of hydrogen peroxide, gallic acid and resveratrol on growth and catalase production of aspergillus fumigatus
Doğan, Tunca; Ögel, Zümrüt Begüm; Department of Food Engineering (2008)
The aim of this study was to analyze the effect of hydrogen peroxide and selected phenolic compounds on growth and catalase production of Aspergillus fumigatus. As a result of growing A. fumigatus at different temperatures it was observed that, growth and catalase production of this species were highest at 37 °C. Catalase production was highest in the presence of 1 mM H2O2, yielding a significant 3 fold increase with respect to the control. Biomass was also increased by 1,44 fold with respect to the control...
The effect of aromatic diboronic acid on characteristics of polybenzoxazine based on phenol and 4-aminomethylbenzoate
İPEK, HALİL; Hacaloğlu, Jale (2018-11-23)
In this study, a polybenzoxazine, (PPab) based on phenol and 4-aminomethyl benzoate and its composites containing various amounts of 1,4-benzene diboronic acid, (BDBA) were synthesized by stepwise curing. It has been determined that both thermal stability and char yield were increased as the amount of BDBA incorporated was increased. The improvements in thermal characteristics were associated with condensation reactions of B-OH of BDBA and not only with hydroxyl groups of polybenzoxazine but also ester grou...
The impact of methionine, tryptophan and proline on methane (95%)-propane (5%) hydrate formation
Longinos, Sotirios Nik; Longinou, Dimitra-Dionisia; Parlaktuna, Mahmut; Toktarbay, Zhexenbek (2021-10-01)
This study examines the impact of three amino acids such as proline, methionine and tryptophan on methane (95%)-propane (5%) hydrate formation with the use of different impellers. The concentration of amino acids was 1 wt% at 24.5 bar and 2 degrees C. Based on experimental outcomes proline behaves as inhibitor and methionine and tryptophan perform as promoters. RT experiments both formed more quickly gas hydrates and indicated higher values in rate of hydrate formation compared to PBTU and PBTD experiments ...
