In this study, an efficient, robust algorithm for automatic target detection and tracking is introduced. Procedure starts with a detection phase. Proposed method uses two alternatives for the detection phase, namely maximally stable extremal regions detector and Canny edge detector. After detection, regions of interest are evaluated and eliminated according to their compactness and effective saliency. The detection process is repeated for a predetermined number of pyramid levels where each level processes a...
Interacting multiple model probabilistic data association filter using random matrices for extended target tracking
Özpak, Ezgi; Orguner, Umut; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
In this thesis, an Interacting Multiple Model – Probabilistic Data Association (IMM-PDA) filter for tracking extended targets using random matrices is proposed. Unlike the extended target trackers in the literature which use multiple alternative partitionings/clusterings of the set of measurements, the algorithm proposed here considers a single partitioning/clustering of the measurement data which makes it suitable for applications with low computational resources. When the IMM-PDA filter uses clustered mea...
Association Cost Enforcing Spatial Consistency for Tracklet Merging
Gürbüz, Yeti Ziya; Alatan, Abdullah Aydın (2017-05-18)
In this study, min-cost network flow formulation for multi-target tracking is adopted for the tracklet merging problem in wide area surveillance. In order to improve the continuity of the computed flows by the min-cost network flow framework, a novel tracklet association cost is proposed to be utilized in this network. The proposed cost is based on connecting two tracklets by considering the traffic flow which is estimated from the precomputed tracklets. Such an approach enforces spatial consistencies betwe...

Reducing computational demand of multi-state constraint kalman filter in visual-inertial odometry applications
Eyice, Kerem; Çiloğlu, Tolga; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2019)
The aim of this study is to reduce the computational load required by Multi-State Constraint Kalman Filter in visual-inertial odometry applications while maintaining the accuracy of the localization solution. In order to accomplish this, a keyframe-based pose selection mechanism is proposed. The proposed method fuses visual measurements with inertial measurements in order to estimate the kinematics of the platform. The contribution of this study is to reduce computational demand of the filtering operations ...
