Synthesis and characterization of a new soluble conducting polymer and its electrochromic device
Varis, Serhat; Ak, Metin; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Akhmedov, Idris Mecidoglu; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2006-12-01)
A mixture of isomers 2,5-di(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole, 2-(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-5-(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole and 2,5-di(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole (Me-SNS(NO2)) were synthesized. Resulting monomers were polymerized chemically, producing soluble polymers in common organic solvents. The average molecular weight has been determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) as Mn = 5.6 x 10(3) for the chemically synthesized polymer. T...
Synthesis of conducting copolymers of thiophene capped poly(ethylene oxide) with pyrrole and thiophene
Yildiz, Huseyin Bekir; Kiralp, Senem; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Yagci, Yusuf; Ito, Koichi (Elsevier BV, 2006-11-10)
Thiophene capped poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) was synthesized. Copolymerisations of PEO with pyrrole (Py) and thiophene (Th) were achieved in water-sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) and acetonitrile (AN)-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB) solvent electrolyte couples via constant potential electrolyses. Characterisations of the samples were performed by NMR, cyclic voltammetry (CV), FT-IR, scanning electron microscopy (SEM). Electrical conductivities were measured by the four-probe technique. PEO-co-PTh f...
Unexpected cyclization of dipyridyl-glycoluril in the presence of formaldehyde and strong acid: A new scaffold with a potential as an anion receptor
Saki, Neslihan; Icli, Burcak; Cevheroglu, Orkun; Akkaya, Engin U. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2006-08-01)
In an attempted synthesis of peripherally pyridine-substituted cucurbituril, an unexpected cyclized product was obtained. A careful NMR analysis followed by mass spectrometry and preliminary crystallographic analyses, helped us in resolving the structure. The structure has two quaternized pyridine functionalities and a groove suitable as a potential receptor site. In addition, just like the parent glycoluril structure, two remaining urea-derived nitrogens can be alkylated by alkyl halides. Thus, we believe ...
Synthesis, crystal structure and characterization of new transition metal compounds of bromophenols: Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato) di(N-methylimidazole)M(II) (M=Co, Cu)
Camurlu, P; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Tatar, L; Kisakurek, D; Ulku, D (Wiley, 2005-03-01)
Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl imidazole)M(II), where M stands for cobalt and copper metals, was synthesized via reaction of the corresponding metal sulphate and 2,4,6-tribromophenolate in aqueous media in the presence of N-methyl imidazole and sodium hydroxide. Although various crystallization procedures were applied only cobalt complex was obtained as single crystals. The Co(II) ion has a distorted octahedral enviroment involving two O atoms and two N atoms of the Bis(2,4,6-tribromopbenolato)di(N...
Synthesis and Characterization of Polypyrrole Nanoparticles and Their Nanocomposites with Poly(propylene)
Sevil, Baytekin; Zuhal, Kucukyavuz (2009-07-09)
Conducting polypyrrole (PPy) nanoparticles were synthesized via microemulsion polymerization. PP/PPy nanocomposites were prepared by melt-mixing of polypyrrole with polypropylene (PP) and processed with injection molding. Tensile tests have revealed that increasing amount of PPy increased the strength and the stiffness of the nanocomposite while limiting the elongation of PP. Thermal gravimetric analysis has showed that incorporation of PPy nanoparticles has improved the thermal stability of the nanocomposi...
