A mixture of isomers 2,5-di(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole, 2-(4-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-5-(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole and 2,5-di(3-methyl-thiophen-2-yl)-1-(4-nitrophenyl)-1H-pyrrole (Me-SNS(NO2)) were synthesized. Resulting monomers were polymerized chemically, producing soluble polymers in common organic solvents. The average molecular weight has been determined by gel permeation chromatography (GPC) as Mn = 5.6 x 10(3) for the chemically synthesized polymer. The monomers were also electrochemically polymerized in the presence of LiClO4, NaClO4 (1:1) as the supporting electrolyte in acetonitrile solvent. Resulting polymers were characterized via CV, FTIR, NMR, SEM and UV-Vis spectroscopy. Spectroelectrochemistry analysis of polymer revealed Pi-Pi* transition below 300 nm, with an electronic band gap of 2.18 ev. Switching ability of the polymer was evaluated by kinetic study measuring percent transmittance (%T) at the maximum contrast point, indicating that poly(Me-SNS(NO2)) is a suitable material for electrochromic devices. Synthesis, crystal structure and characterization of new transition metal compounds of bromophenols: Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato) di(N-methylimidazole)M(II) (M=Co, Cu)
Camurlu, P; Yılmaz, Ayşen; Tatar, L; Kisakurek, D; Ulku, D (Wiley, 2005-03-01)
Bis(2,4,6-tribromophenolato)di(N-methyl imidazole)M(II), where M stands for cobalt and copper metals, was synthesized via reaction of the corresponding metal sulphate and 2,4,6-tribromophenolate in aqueous media in the presence of N-methyl imidazole and sodium hydroxide. Although various crystallization procedures were applied only cobalt complex was obtained as single crystals. The Co(II) ion has a distorted octahedral enviroment involving two O atoms and two N atoms of the Bis(2,4,6-tribromopbenolato)di(N...
Synthesis of aromatic poly(pyridinium salt)s and their electrochromic properties
Keshtov, M. L.; UDUM, YASEMİN; Toppare, Levent Kamil; Kochurov, V. S.; Khokhlov, A. R. (Elsevier BV, 2013-05-15)
Synthesis of a series of new conjugated electrochromic polymeric pyridinium salts containing main-chain triphenylamine and their electrochromic properties were demonstrated. All polymers exhibit intense UV absorptions at 336-338 nm in DMF and 340-343 nm in thin film form and fluorescence centered at 410-438 nm in DMF and 460-461 nm in thin film form. The electrochromic properties of the films were investigated by electrochemical and spectroelectrochemical methods. Reversible redox signals with stable electr...
Conducting polymers of decanedioic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yl-phenyl) ester
Çırpan, Ali; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2004-05-15)
A dipyrrolyl monomer was synthesized via the reaction between 4-pyrrol-1-yl phenol and decanedioyl dichloride. The electrochemical behavior of this monomer was studied. Polymerization of decanedioic acid bis-(4-pyrrol-1-yi-phenyl) ester (DAPE) was achieved by chemical and constant current electrolyses methods. Copolymerization of DAPE with thiophene was performed by constant potential electrolysis in acetonitrile-tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate (TBAFB), dichloromethane-TBAFB, solvent-electrolyte couple...
Synthesis of star-shaped pyrrole and thiophene functionalized monomers and optoelectrochemical properties of corresponding copolymers
Ak, Metin; Toppare, Levent Kamil (Elsevier BV, 2009-04-15)
Star-shaped thiophene and pyrrole functionalized monomers namely 2,4,6-tris(4-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (TriaPy) and 2,4,6-tris(4-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenoxy)-1,3,5-triazine (TriaTh) were synthesized from 2,4,6-trichloro-1,3,5-triazine, thiophen-3-ylmethanol and 4-(1H-pyrrol-1-yl)phenol. Electrochemical copolymerization of monomers with thiophene and pyrrole was achieved in tetrabutylammonium tetrafluoroborate/acetonitrile (TBAFB/AN). Resulting copolymers were characterized by Fourier transform in...
Crystallization of silicalite-1 from clear synthesis solutions: Effect of template concentration on crystallization rate and crystal size
Soydas, B.; Çulfaz Emecen, Pınar Zeynep; Kalıpçılar, Halil; Culfaz, A. (Wiley, 2009-08-01)
Synthesis of silicalite-1 powders and membranes from initially clear solutions with different tetrapropylammonium hydroxide or bromide concentrations was studied. While tetrapropylammonium bromide acts only as template, tetrapropylammonium hydroxide provides both the template and hydroxyl ions to the synthesis medium. The effects of template and hydroxyl ion concentration on the product yield, crystallization rate and crystal size were investigated. Pure and highly crystalline silicalite-1 was obtained with...
