The thermal changes induced in dipalmitoyl phosphatidyl glycerol (DPPG) model membranes were studied by FIR technique. When temperature increases, the DPPG model membrane passes from a high ordered gel phase to a few ordered liquid crystalline phase. The very quick passing between the two phases is characterized by the main phase transition temperature at which the bilayers contain equal percentages of ordered and disordered phospholipids. The main phase transition induces important changes in the symmetric and asymmetric stretching vibrations of the -CH2 groups of the DPPG acyl tails. Mathematical methods for determining the main phase transition and the degree of order of the DPPG model membrane at a given temperature are proposed in this paper.

FTIR and turbidity studies of fish oil-dipalmitoylphosphatidylcholine model membrane interactions
Severcan, Feride; Bayari, S; Karahan, D (Elsevier BV, 1999-05-04)
The temperature induced effects of fish oil on dipalmitoyl phosphatidylcholine (DPPC) model membranes (fish oil/lipid ratio: 2% w/w) were investigated by Fourier transform infrared (FTIR) smd UV/Visible spectroscopic techniques. In FTIR study the C-H and C=O stretching modes were investigated. The results of the FTIR study reveals that fish oil changes the physical properties of the DPPC multilamellar liposomes by broadening the phase transition profile and increasing the bandwidth of the CH2 stretching ban...
Pressure dependence of the Raman frequencies for the modes I, II and III at constant temperatures in phase II of benzene
Ozdemir, H.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2015-01-25)
We study here the pressure dependence of the Raman frequencies for different modes in phase II of benzene at constant temperatures. By using the experimental data for the volume, we calculate the Raman frequency as a function of pressure at constant temperatures through the isothermal mode Gruneisen parameter for the modes studied. Our calculations show that the Raman frequencies predicted, agree well with the observed frequencies for the modes in phase II of benzene. The isothermal mode Gruneisen parameter...
Calculation of the specific heat using the Raman frequency shifts for the solid I-II transition in benzene
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2015-06-15)
The specific heat C-p is calculated as a function of temperature using the observed Raman frequency shifts of the six lattice modes at constant pressures of 0 and 0.1 GPa for the solid I-II transition in benzene. This calculation is performed using the volume data through the mode Grfineisen parameter of each lattice mode which we determined as functions of temperature and pressure. The specific heat C-p is also calculated as a function of pressure at room temperature using the Raman frequency shifts of tho...
Electrochemical and quantum chemical studies on mitomycin and adriamycin
Ozalp-Yaman, S; Önal, Ahmet Muhtar; Turker, L (Elsevier BV, 2003-06-25)
In-situ spectroelectrochemical redox behaviour of two prominent chemotherapeutic agents, mitomycin and adriamycin were studied at constant potential. AM 1 (UHF) type quantum chemical calculations on the neutral as well as radical anion and cation forms of mitomycin and adriamycin were performed.
Atorvastatin-loaded SBA-16 nanostructures: Synthesis, physical characterization, and biochemical alterations in hyperlipidemic rats
Sayadi, Khalilolah; Rahdar, Abbas; Hajinezhad, Mohammad Reza; Nikazar, Sohrab; Susan, Md Abu Bin Hasan (Elsevier BV, 2020-02-15)
Mesoporous Santa Barbara Amorphous-16 (SBA-16) silica was synthesized via facile sol-gel method and functionalized using a silanizing agent, 3-amino-propyl-triethoxysilane, cyanuric chloride and dopamine. SBA-16/dopamine was characterized for the structure and morphology by x-ray diffraction, transmission electron microscopy, thermogravimetric analysis, and Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy. Silica was amorphous in nature. Analysis of SBA-16 silica by Brunauer-Emmett-Teller (BET) method indicated that...
