Türkiye’de Gelir Gruplarına Göre Gıda Talebi

2004-6

The paper describes a two stage model of households’ food demand by income groups in Turkey. Demand for the food aggregate is represented by a Working-Leser type single equation model while demand for eight dictict food types is modelled in a complete demand system using the LA/AIDS functional form. Estimation is based on household budget survey data for 1994. The results indicate that the medium, high and the highest income households’ demands are responsive to prices, income and socio-demographic variable...
The Determinants of food inflation in Turkey
Erol, Erdal; Yıldırım Kasap, Dilem; Department of Economics (2017)
The major aim of this study is to find out the best models which identifies the determinants of food inflation in Turkey over the period 2003(1)-2013(12). To this end, a linear ARIMAX model is constructed by adopting an exhaustive search algorithm that is designed to select the model with most appropriate food inflation correlates. The best two models out of all candidate models having the minimum AIC and BIC values are evaluated in the estimation and prediction analyses. Roughly, our empirical results reve...
The Response of the Arabian Gulf Economies to the Changes in World Oil Prices
Zind, Richard G. (Orta Doğu Teknik Üniversitesi (Ankara, Turkey), 2001)
This paper examines a model of demand for local government-provided goods, and applies this to municipal spending in Turkey. Two sets of variables are tested: the socio-economic characteristics of the localities, and the political variables. The results are generally in line with the previous findings for a set of socio-economic variables, however none of the political variables seem to have explanatory power, probably because of the high dependence of local governments on the central government and hence t...
The impact of household income on child labour in urban Turkey
Dayıoğlu Tayfur, Meltem (Informa UK Limited, 2006-08-01)
The aim of this study is to investigate the determinants of child labour in urban Turkey with a special reference to low household income or poverty as one of its root causes. Studies done elsewhere have produced mixed results which necessitate the relationship to be studied at country-level. The data from urban Turkey indicate that children from poorer families stand at a higher risk of employment. This finding is confirmed using various measures of household material well-being. Simulation results have fu...

A cross-sectional analysis of income, consumption and saving behavior of Turkish household This paper investigates the age profiles of income, consumption and saving of Turkish households, compares them to the profiles reported for various developing and developed countries, and evaluates the results within a life-cycle theory framework. These life-cycle profiles are constructed for separate income quartiles and education groups as well as for the whole population. It is crucial to understand the consumptio...
