Capacity Building in Earthquake Research for Risk Reduction in Urban Environments (CYBER)

2008-4-30
There are three major objectives of this proposal. The first objective is to increase the level of collaboration of METU with institutions in Europe through networking for facility development, technology transfer, bilateral study visits and joint studie s, for a better participation in EC FP. The second objective is to increase the technical capabilities of the centre. Although METU owns modest experimental and computational facilities, a pseudo-dynamic testing facility (PsD) and a GIS facility are not currently present. PsD is essential for realistic earthquake simulations whereas GIS is essential for conducting seismic hazard, vulnerability, loss estimation and microzonation studies. The third objective is enhancing human resources by training young researchers in collaboration with European research organizations, and through hiring expert research staff.

Relationships of safety climate and organizational citizenship behaviors in aerospace industry in Turkey
Kılıçaslan, Mahmure Dilayla; Demirel, Nuray; Ocaktan, Murat Can; Department of Occupational Health and Safety (2019)
The aim of the current study is represented in three main aspects. Firstly, it is aimed to check the fit of "the risk perception model" developed by Deery (1999) among young male non-professional and taxi driver samples. Secondly, it is aimed to analyze the effect of driving as a profession on risk perception and risk-taking behaviors of drivers. Thirdly, it is aimed to facilitate driving simulation in order to measure driver behaviors by comparing the results with self-reported driver behaviors. 40 young m...
Determination of organic particle composition in Ankara atmosphere and investigation of their contribution to receptor modeling
Koçak, Ebru; Tuncel, Süleyman Gürdal; İmamoğlu, İpek; Department of Environmental Engineering (2017)
There are two main objectives of this work. First one is to reveal general characteristics of organic particulate composition in Ankara atmosphere, including their temporal and spatial variability, dependence of composition to meteorology and sources. The second one is to generate new source markers to improve the resolution receptor oriented source apportionment studies. In this study, 45 particulate organic matters were measured at two different stations in Ankara. First one was located at parking site of...
Energy Efficient Design of Buildings
Summers, M E Francoise; Aslan, Ece; Elias Özkan, Soofia Tahira; Üçer, Deniz; Turhan, Fulya; Pedergnana , Matthieu; Deljavan, Nastaran(2013-12-31)
The proposed project comprises of four parts:1. Monitoring of the environmental performance of selected buildings.2. Testing of alternative building materials in hybrid constructions.3. Design and simulations of experimental greenhouses to evaluate their energy efficiency.4. Design and simulation to select best rehabilitation option for the disused Şahmuratlı school.Details of these components is given in the Project Proposal uploaded to section 5 "Ekler"

INTEGRATED NANODEVICES (NANODEV)
Akata Kurç, Burcu(2015-12-31)
The primary objective of this proposal is to carry the results, knowledge, and international collaboration gained throughout our first project (NANOBIOSOENS) that was conducted as a part of IRSES call in the last 3 years to the next level, which will focus on nanodevices and advanced applications. The proposed research project is focused on two different applications, main one being on biosensors and bioelectronics and the other one on potential solar energy science. The results obtained during NANOBIOSENS ...
