The proposed study is a theoretical comparative study on the syntax and semantics of negation in Turkish, English, and Croatian, with the focus on the high negation constructions. The languages chosen for the investigation are on the one hand, typologically diverse with respect to the constructions containing high negation, thus providing the researcher with a fruitful empirical research base for drawing cross-linguistic inferences and on the other, they are languages whose speakers the researcher can consult in order to collect the necessary linguistic data. In this study, constructions that contain both a high negation and another scope-bearing element (disjunction, question particle) will be examined in three languages: Turkish, English and Croatian.
