Calculation of the Thermodynamic Quantities for Cubic Gauche Nitrogen (cg-N)
Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit; Akay, O. (2022-01-01)
This work aims to investigate the thermodynamic properties of the cubic gauge nitrogen (cg-N) by calculating the relevant thermodynamic quantities as a functions of temperature and pressure. The thermodynamic quantities of volume (V), thermal expansion (alpha p), isothermal compressibility (kappa T), bulk modulus(B), and the heat capacity (Cp) are calculated as a function of temperature at constants pressures (0, 35, 125, 250 GPa) for the cg-N structure. Also, the pressure dependences of V, kappa T, alpha p...
Radiation grafting of various water-soluble monomers on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene powder: Part I. Grafting conditions and grafting yield
Aydinli, B; Tincer, T (Elsevier BV, 2001-02-01)
Monomers of some water-soluble polymers; acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, acrylamide, N, N-dimethyl acrylamide and 1-vinyl-2 pyrrolidone, were grafted on ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) powders by a direct grafting method in an aqueous medium in air. Inhibition of homopolymerisation was achieved by adding various concentrations of Fe2+ or Cu2+ ions. It was found that the degree of grafting increases linearly with dose till a gelation state is reached, and varies between 40 and 12% depending...
Investigation of digester f/m ratio as a parameter to affect sludge minimization and gas production of ultrasonically treated sludge
Köksoy, Gözde Tuğba; Sanin, Faika Dilek; Department of Environmental Engineering (2009)
Ultrasonic sludge disintegration –the most commonly used mechanical pretreatment method- enables the occurrence of cavitation bubbles to extract intracellular material from the cell into aqueous phase. However, there is a lack of information on the volatile solids loading on the anaerobic digestion process performance of ultrasonically treated sludge. In this thesis work, the effect of sonication on disintegration of waste activated sludge (WAS) and an important parameter digester F/M (food to microorganism...
SIMULATION CALCULATIONS FOR GOLD CLUSTERS ON THE GAAS(110) SURFACE
Erkoç, Şakir; HALICIOGLU, T; TILLER, WA (1992-08-15)
Energy- and structure-related properties of small gold clusters deposited on the GaAs(110) surface were investigated in this work using a molecular dynamics procedure. A recently developed potential energy function based on two- and three-body interactions was employed in calculating energies and forces. These calculations produced some consistent results with experiments. The three-body interactions involving As atoms in particular, were found to play an important role in determining favorable binding site...
Determination of Rheological Models for Drilling Fluids (A Statistical Approach)
Kök, Mustafa Verşan (Informa UK Limited, 2004-01-16)
A rheological model conventionally characterizes non-Newtonian drilling fluids. Parameters of the rheological models are estimated by explicitly solving the required number of equations simultaneously. Rheological models are stochastic and this study considers only the deterministic part of the model. Observed data is accepted as arising from randomness due to the system. A nonlinear least squares method is applied to readings of 6 standard Fann viscometer speeds in order to estimate the models' parameters....
