Hydrocarbon-Soluble, Isolable Ziegler-Type Ir(0)(n) Nanoparticle Catalysts Made from [(1,5-COD)Ir(mu-O2C8H15)](2) and 2-5 Equivalents of AlEt3: Their High Catalytic Activity, Long Lifetime, and AlEt3-Dependent, Exceptional, 200 degrees C Thermal Stability
Hamdemir, Isil K.; Özkar, Saim; Yih, Kuang-Hway; Mondloch, Joseph E.; Finke, Richard G. (2012-04-01)
Hydrocarbon-solvent-soluble, isolable, Ziegler-type Ir(0)(n) nanoparticle hydrogenation catalysts made from the crystallo-graphically characterized [(1,5-COD)Ir(mu-O2C8H15)](2) precatalyst and 2-5 equiv of AlEt3 (>= 2 equiv of AlEt3 being required for the best catalysis and stability, vide infra) are scrutinized for their catalytic properties of (1) their isolability and then redispersibility without visible formation of bulk metal; (2) their initial catalytic activity of the isolated nanoparticle catalyst ...
Bio-functional analysis of RAD23 gene using virus induced gene silencing method in response to powdery mildew attack in Barley
Aksoy, Yağmur; Akkaya, Mahinur S.; Ersoy, Figen; Department of Biotechnology (2012)
Blumeria graminis f.sp. hordei is an obligate biotrophic parasite causing powdery mildew disease in several cereals, including barley. Virus induced gene silencing (VIGS) is a widely used powerful tool in plant functional-genomic studies to determine the functions of genes in disease resistance. In this thesis study, the function of RAD23 gene in barley in plant resistance was investigated. The RAD23 is a ubiquitin (Ub) binding protein involved in programmed protein degradation by transferring of ubiquityla...
Rediscovery of Scorzonera amasiana Hausskn. and Bornm. - A threatened endemic species in turkey
Karaer, Fergan; Celep, Ferhat (2007-12-01)
Scorzonera amasiana Hausskn. and Bornm. was described from type specimens collected by J.F.N. Bornmueller in 1889 but it was not collected again until 1993, when it was found near Amasya, Turkey. Populations of S. amasiana were quite small at that limited locations and were vulnerable to human impacts. Therefore, suitable conservation strategies should be developed immediately in order to protect the species from probable extinction. Here, an additional three small populations are reported. Brief history, m...
Verbascum eskisehirensis sp nov (Scrophulariaceae) from central Anatolia, Turkey
Karaveliogullari, Faik Ahmet; Ocak, Atilla; EKİCİ, MURAT; Cabi, Evren (Wiley, 2009-01-01)
Verbascum eskisehirensis Karavel., Ocak & Ekici sp. nov. (sect. Bothrosperma Murb.) is described and illustrated from Turkey. This new species is confined to B3 Eskisehir in central Anatolia. A morphological comparison is made with the closely related species; V. oreophilum K. Koch and V. pyramidatum M. Bieb. In addition, a cluster analysis was conducted and a distribution map of the new species and the related species is also given.
Leaf anatomy of Agropyron Gaertn. (Gramineae) in Turkey
Mavi, D. Ozlem; Doğan, Musa; Cabi, Evren (2011-01-01)
Agropyron cristatum (L.) Gaertn. is represented by 2 subspecies in Turkey, namely subsp. incanum (Nabelek) Melderis and subsp. pectinatum (M.Bieb.) Tzvelev. This study examines the taxonomic significance of the leaf properties of the taxa of Agropyron Gaertn., comprising diagnostic anatomical features obtained from leaf transverse sections as well as leaf surface micromorphology. Results of the study show that most of the characters, such as the shape of the leaf blades; the size and number of stomata; the ...
