The WA95/CHORUS experiment at CERN is a dedicated nu(mu)-nu(tau) oscillation search experiment. Using the wide band neutrino beam of the CERN-SPS accelerator, with an exposure of 2.4 X 10(19) protons on the target, this experiment will explore the domain of small mixing angles down to sin(2) 2 theta(mu tau) approximate to 3 X 10(-4) for mass differences Delta m(2) > 1 eV(2), more than one order of magnitude better than the current limits. The conceptual design of the CHORUS experiment and data on the detector performances are reported.

Study of high mass Higgs using pp -> qqH
Yildiz, HD; Zeyrek, Mehmet Tevfik (2003-08-01)
The observability of the Higgs signal in the mass range of 200-800 GeV is investigated in the weak boson fusion channel at the CMS experiment at LHC. The weak boson fusion channel is characterized by two final state jets at large pseudorapidity. The forward calorimeter plays a key role in detecting these jets. The significant signals are obtained for H --> WW --> lvjj, H --> ZZ --> lljj and H --> ZZ --> llvv. Importance of the forward jet tagging and the central jet veto is emphasized to extract the signal ...
NONRELATIVISTIC QUARK-ANTIQUARK POTENTIAL: SPECTROSCOPY OF HEAVY-QUARKONIA AND EXOTIC SUSY QUARKONIA
IKHDAİR, SAMEER; Sever, Ramazan (World Scientific Pub Co Pte Lt, 2009-11-20)
The experiments at LHC have shown that the SUSY (exotic) bound states are likely to form bound states in an entirely similar fashion as ordinary quarks form bound states, i.e. quarkonium. Also, the interaction between two squarks is due to gluon exchange which is found to be very similar to that interaction between two ordinary quarks. This motivates us to solve the Schrodinger equation with a strictly phenomenological static quark-antiquark potential: V(r) = -Ar-1 + kappa root r + V-0 using the shifted lar...
The optical links of the ATLAS SemiConductor tracker
Wilson, J. A.; et. al. (IOP Publishing, 2007-09-01)
Optical links are used for the readout of the 4088 silicon microstrip modules that make up the SemiConductor Tracker of the ATLAS experiment at the CERN Large Hadron Collider (LHC). The optical link requirements are reviewed, with particular emphasis on the very demanding environment at the LHC. The on-detector components have to operate in high radiation levels for 10 years, with no maintenance, and there are very strict requirements on power consumption, material and space. A novel concept for the packagi...
Measurements of the Higgs boson width and anomalous HVV couplings from on-shell and off-shell production in the four-lepton final state
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2019-06-01)
Studies of on-shell and off-shell Higgs boson production in the four-lepton final state are presented, using data from the CMS experiment at the LHC that correspond to an integrated luminosity of 80.2 fb(-1) at a center-of-mass energy of 13 TeV. Joint constraints are set on the Higgs boson total width and parameters that express its anomalous couplings to two electroweak vector bosons. These results are combined with those obtained from the data collected at center-of-mass energies of 7 and 8 TeV, correspon...
Observation of Top Quark Production in Proton-Nucleus Collisions
Sirunyan, A. M.; et. al. (American Physical Society (APS), 2017-12-01)
The first observation of top quark production in proton-nucleus collisions is reported using proton-lead data collected by the CMS experiment at the CERN LHC at a nucleon-nucleon center-of-mass energy of root(S)(NN) = 8.16 TeV. The measurement is performed using events with exactly one isolated electron or muon candidate and at least four jets. The data sample corresponds to an integrated luminosity of 174 nb(-1). The significance of the tt signal against the background-only hypothesis is above 5 standard d...
