Combined-free flow over weirs and below gates
Negm, AAM; Al-Brahim, AM; Alhamid, AA; Sakarya, BA; Aydın, İsmail; Ger, AM (2004-01-01)
The results of an experimental investigation on the characteristics of the combined flow over contracted sharp-crested rectangular weirs and below contracted sharp-crested rectangular gates are presented. The experiments are carried out in a laboratory flume using various geometrical dimensions under different flow conditions. The basic principles are employed to correlate the discharge to the relevant geometrical and hydraulic parameters in nondimensional form. The experimental data are then used to develo...
DAILY OPERATION OF A MULTIPURPOSE RESERVOIR SYSTEM
Yazıcıgil, Hasan; TOEBES, GERRIT H (1983-01-01)
An optimization model that may be used by reservoir system operators to improve daily, real‐time operations and to evolve better long‐term operating guidelines is developed and tested. The four multipurpose reservoirs in the Green River Basin (GRB) of Kentucky are used as a case study. The GRB Operation Optimization Model (GRBOOM) is a linear program constructed to imitate the decision‐ making process that results in actual reservoir release decisions. The model is easily modifiable and very flexible, which...
Problems of water management in post-Soviet Central Asia
Şamlı, Emre; Köksal, Pınar; Department of Eurasian Studies (2017)
This thesis examines the water-related problems that took place among the Central Asian Republics when the centrally-managed ‘water-energy nexus’ broke down with the dissolution of the Soviet Union. The problems in the region are analyzed in terms of the two transboundary waters of Amu Darya and Syr Darya. While Tajikistan wants to build the Rogun Dam on Amu Darya, Kyrgyzstan tries to establish the Kambarata Dam-1 on Syr Darya. However, these attempts have been criticized by Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan becaus...
Setting up the Medposidonia Programme in the Mediterranean Region
Pergent, Gerard; Aktan, Yelda; Belbacha, Said; Djellouli, Aslam; de la Grandrive, Renaud Dupuy; Elagil, El Maki Ayad; El Asmi, Souha; Gücü, Ali Cemal; Langar, Habib; Laouar, Saida; Pergent-Martini, Christine; Rais, Chedly; Semroud, Rachid; Sherif, Mohamed (2011-01-01)
The MedPosidonia programme, an initiative of the Regional Activity Centre for Specially Protected Areas (UNEP/MAP) supported by the Total corporate Foundation, aims at collecting information on the geographic distribution and evolution of Posidonia meadows (Posidonia oceanica) in four Mediterranean countries with a view to using these information to elaborate and/or adjust their conservation and sustainable use of biodiversity programmes. Within the framework of this programme, activities were performed at...
Explicit maximal and minimal curves over finite fields of odd characteristics
Özbudak, Ferruh (2016-11-01)
In this work we present explicit classes of maximal and minimal Artin-Schreier type curves over finite fields having odd characteristics. Our results include the proof of Conjecture 5.9 given in [1] as a very special subcase. We use some techniques developed in [2], which were not used in [1].
