Terahertz region has become very attractive for new applications however, the materials that work in this region are very limited. Within the aim of providing a new instrument that can be used in this field, we designed and analyzed a new metamaterial (MTM) absorber and MTM absorber sensor for Sub-Terahertz region. As a first step, the structure was designed and the electromagnetic response of the design was analyzed. The perfect absorption with 99.9% absorption rate was achieved for the resonant frequency at 0.12 THz. After finding the resonant frequencies and absorption rates, the surface current and electric field distributions at resonance frequencies were gathered and then described. As a second step, sensory application of the proposed structure has been conducted. The material to be detected was added to the top of the structure as an overlayer (OL). The changes in reflection resonances by the mean of shift in resonant frequency and change in amplitude have been investigated as a function of the permittivity, thickness and loss tangent of the OL. As a result of that study, we proved that this unique MTM absorber can be used for detecting materials in Sub-THz regime.

Absorber and sensor applications of complimentary H-shaped fishnet metamaterial for sub-terahertz frequency region
Faruk, Ahmet; Sabah, Cumali (Elsevier BV, 2019-01-01)
The progress in the technology of manufacturing new materials increases the usage of Terahertz (THz) region, which is considered as the last explored region of electromagnetic spectrum. In biological, chemical, sensing and detecting applications THz region is started to be used widely. We proposed a unique fishnet metamaterial (MTM) absorber and metasensor that can be used to detect and characterize new materials which are produced for THz region. First of all, the reflection and absorption characteristics ...
Plasmonic resonances in sub-terahertz fishnet metamaterial based on complementary hexagonal resonator
Yuksek, Yahya; Demir, S. Mahircan; Sabah, Cumali (Elsevier BV, 2019-01-01)
Exploration of the perfect combination between metamaterials (MTMs) and plasmonics has paved the way of the new innovations in electromagnetic and communication engineering, especially in sub-THz spectroscopy. In order to contribute to such developments, plasmonic resonances in sub-THz fishnet MTM on the basis of complementary hexagonal resonator structure is investigated in this paper. The design, in which method of removing hexagonal structure is applied, has been performed based on finite simulation tech...
Optical constants and critical point energies of (AgInSe2)(0.75)-(In2Se3)(0.25) single crystals
Isik, M.; Nasser, H.; Guseinov, A.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2020-03-01)
AgInSe2 and In2Se3 are two attractive semiconducting materials for various technological applications especially for photovoltaic applications. In the present study, structural and optical properties of (AgInSe2)(x)-(In2Se3)(1-x) crystals for composition of x = 0.75 corresponding to chemical formula of Ag3In5Se9 were characterized by X-ray diffraction, energy-dispersive spectroscopy, room temperature transmission, and ellipsometry experiments. The transmittance spectrum was analyzed to reveal energy band ga...
Current transport mechanisms in low resistive CdS thin films
Günal, İbrahim; Parlak, Mehmet (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1997-02-01)
The current transport mechanisms in polycrystalline CdS thin films have been studied as a function of temperature over the temperature range 20-230 K. Conductivity data for the high temperature region has been analysed using Seto's model of thermionic emission. At intermediate temperatures it was found that thermionic emission and tunnelling of carriers through the potential barrier both contribute to the conductivity. Below 100 K Mott's hopping process appears to be the predominant conduction mechanism.
Multiobjective Optimization of the DC-DC Stage of a Module-Integrated Inverter Based on an Efficiency Usage Model
Mirjafari, Mehran; Balog, Robert S.; Turan, Raşit (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2014-05-01)
As photovoltaic (PV) energy continues to gain market penetration due to the lower cost of PV modules, attention is shifting to the balance of system. In this paper, a new efficiency evaluation technique based on a usage model that is synthesized from high-temporal operational data of a PV module is investigated, along with a multiobjective design optimization of the dc-dc stage of a module-integrated inverter. The analysis shows that the technique provides more accurate results than the California Energy Co...
