DISSOCIATIVE ELECTRON-ATTACHMENT TO NH3, NH2OH, NH2NH2 AND NH2CH3

NH2- formation by the attachment of electrons to NH3, NH2OH, NH2NH2 and NH2CH3 is studied using a low energy (0-10 eV), narrow electron beam. Formation of NH2- shows a narrow resonance with an onset around 4.5 eV and maximum around 6.0 eV from all these compounds. This slow variation of the appearance potential of NH2- within the series is rather unexpected from the energy balance equation since the bond energies vary considerably from one compound to the other.

Mass spectrometric study of negative ions from unsaturated carbonyls
Hacaloğlu, Jale; Gökmen, Ali; Baumgartel, H. (1989-01-01)
Negative ion formation from some unsaturated carbonyl derivatives is investigated as a function of electron energy by using a monochromatic (0.2 eV) and low-energy (0-10 eV) electron beam and a mass spectrometer. Negative ions at low energies are formed via a dissociative attachment process. Appearance potentials of certain negative ions can be correlated with the electron-releasing or -withdrawing power of the substituents and/or with bond strengths. For example, the appearance potentials of C6H5CO" and C2...
Multicomponent ion exchange on zeolite 4A
Kadaifci, Bijen; Yücel, Hayrettin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2011)
In this study binary and ternary ion exchange on Zeolite NaA using silver and cadmium ions were investigated. Ion exchange were conducted at constant temperature (25oC) and normality (0.1N) in a batch system for both binary and ternary experiments. Zeolite weights were varied between 0.1 and 1 g for binary experiments. Thermodynamic analysis of binary ion exchange between Cd2+-Na+ and Ag+-Na+ were examined and thermodynamic equilibrium constant and Gibbs free energy were calculated. Thermodynamic equilibriu...
The effect of dissolved species on hydrophobic aggregation of fluorite
Hicyilmaz, C; Bilgen, S; Ozbas, KE (1997-03-10)
The hydrophobic aggregation of fluorite in the presence of Fe3+, Al3+, F- Ca2+, Mg2+ and Ba2+ ions was studied. Electrokinetic potentials were measured to interpret the effect of these ions on aggregation.
Antioxidant enzyme activities in rat liver tissues of diabetic rats
Sadi, Gökhan; Güray, Tülin; Department of Biochemistry (2004)
Free radicals are the compounds having one or more unpaired electrons in their outer orbital and this unpaired electron make these compounds very reactive. Especially as their concentration increases, they initiate a chain oxidation reaction of lipids, proteins and nucleic acids. The condition, in which the production of free radicals exceeds their elimination or tissue defense mechanism decrease against them or both occur together, is called oxidative stress. In diabetes mellitus which is a glucose metabol...
Investigation of vibrational, elastic and dielectric properties of cubic gauche nitrogen (cg-N)
Akay, Ö.; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (2021-06-01)
Vibrational, elastic and dielectric properties of the cubic gauche nitrogen (cg-N) are investigated by analyzing the Raman optic and zone-center phonon modes using the literature data. From the pressure dependence of those Raman modes and the volume data, the isothermal mode Grüneisen parameter is determined, which increases with the pressure in the cg-N structure. A linear variation is obtained between the Raman frequency shifts and the elastic anharmonicity within the pressure range (0−360 GPa) studied fo...
