THE DYNAMICS OF A QUANTAL RESERVOIR COUPLED TO CLASSICAL MODES - A MIXED-MODE APPROACH TO DISSOCIATING MOLECULES

We have analyzed a three-mode model system to study quantum effects in a dissociative process. An algorithm which combines Hamilton's and time-dependent Schroedinger equations in an SCF manner is applied. Large differences in the qualitative behaviour of trajectories are observed which suggests a chaotic nature. The monitoring of the energy transfer or trajectories themselves by interactive computer graphics can be used to forecast possibilities of dissociation. It is also noted that the initial conditions strongly affect the dissociation process. We compare fully classical calculations with these mixed mode results, and analyze the reasons behind disparities.

An empirical method for the second viral coefficients of non-standard fluids
Kis, Konrad; Orbey, Hasan (Elsevier BV, 1989-9)
A new empirical method is proposed for the extension of Pitzer-Curl type correlations of the second virial coefficient to non-standard fluids as define
The Spectral and temporal properties of MAXI J1409-619
Dönmez, Çağatay Kerem; Baykal, Altan; Department of Physics (2019)
In this thesis, spectral and timing analysis of the transient high-mass X-ray binary (HMXB) pulsar MAXI J1409-619 are presented. MAXI J1409-619 was discovered in October 2010, and went into an outburst in early December 2010 until February 2011. Observations of Swift and RXTE throughout this period are used in the thesis. The analysis results are in line with the assertion that MAXI J1409-619 is an accretion-powered pulsar. Time-resolved energy spectra of RXTE and Swift data confirm the previously reported ...
The effects of non-universal extra dimensions on the fermion electric dipole moments in the two Higgs doublet model
Iltan, EO (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2004-04-01)
We study the the effects of non-universal extra dimensions on the electric dipole moments of fermions in the two Higgs doublet model. We observe that the t quark and b quark electric dipole moments are sensitive to the extra dimensions, however, in the case of charged lepton electric dipole moments, this sensitivity is relatively weak.
The method of lines solution of discrete ordinates method for Nongray media experimental
Çayan, Fatma Nihan; Selçuk, Nevin; Department of Chemical Engineering (2006)
A radiation code based on method of lines (MOL) solution of discrete ordinates method (DOM) for the prediction of radiative heat transfer in nongray absorbing-emitting media was developed by incorporation of two different gas spectral radiative property models, namely wide band correlated-k (WBCK) and spectral line-based weighted sum of gray gases (SLW) models. Predictive accuracy and computational efficiency of the developed code were assessed by applying it to the predictions of source term distributions ...
The effect of peripheral circuits on the total pi-electron energies of cyclacenes
Türker, Burhan Lemi (2000-01-01)
Within the framework of the Huckel molecular orbital theory, certain linear models are developed to express the contribution of peripheral circuits of cyclacenes into their total pi -electron energies, which explain why cyclacenes exhibit the cryptoannulenic behavior as their peripheral circuits which are annulenic in character.
