A novel symmetrical squaraine derivative with two phenylboronic acid functions has been synthesized. This compound detects carbohydrates in aqueous solutions with a fluorescence intensity increase. The emission maximum is at 645 nm with a gamma-band shoulder at 695 nm, making this the first example of a near IR emitting carbohydrate chemosensor. (C) 1999 Published by Elsevier Science Ltd. Stereoselective Synthesis of Bishomo-inositols as Glycosidase Inhibitors
Baran, Arif; Balcı, Metin (2009-01-02)
For the synthesis of various bishomo-inositol derivatives, 1,3,3a,7a-tetrahydro-2-benzofuran was used as the key compound. For further functionalization of the diene unit, the diene was subjected to photooxygenation, epoxidation, and cis-hydroxylation reactions. The endoperoxide linkage was cleaved by thiourea. The remaining double bond was subjected to epoxidation and cis-hydroxylation reactions. The epoxide rings and tetrahydrofuran rings formed were opened by acid-catalyzed reaction with sulfamic acid. Simple chemoenzymatic access to enantiopure pharmacologically interesting (R)-2-hydroxypropiophenones
Demir, AS; Hamamcı, Haluk; Sesenoglu, O; Aydogan, F; Capanoglu, D; Neslihanoglu, R (2001-07-30)
A chemoenzymatic synthesis of pharmacological interesting (R)-2-hydroxypropiophenones starting from propiophenone derivatives is described. Manganese(III) acetate-mediated acetoxylation followed by fungus-mediated hydrolysis of propiophenone derivatives affords (R)-2-hydroxypropiophenones in high enantiomeric excess.
A simple synthesis of 1-aminophosphonic acids from 1-hydroxyiminophosphonates with NaBH4 in the presence of transition metal compounds
Demir, AS; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Sesenoglu, O; Demic, S; Evin, OO (1996-01-15)
A new procedure has been developed for the synthesis of 1-aminophosphonic acids. Diethyl phosphonates are converted to hydroxyiminophosphonates when treated with hydroxylamine hydrochloride. Reduction of hydroxyiminophosphonates with NaBH4 in MeOH in the presence of MoO3 or NiCl2 and hydrolysis of 1- aminophosphonates gave 1-aminophosphonic acids in good yield.
ELECTROPHILIC SUBSTITUTION IN INDOLES .18. HAMMETT CORRELATIONS OF THE COUPLING OF ARYL DIAZONIUM TETRAFLUOROBORATES WITH INDOLE
ABDULLAH, MI; JACKSON, AH; LYNCH, PP; RECORD, KAF (1990-01-01)
Hammett plots for the coupling of a series of substituted aryldiazonium salts with indole and 3-methylindole show linear relationships thus confirming that the reactions are typical aromatic electrophilic substitutions.
Novel conversion of thiols into disulfides, via S-nitrosothiol intermediates using trichloronitromethane
Demir, Ayhan Sıtkı; Igdir, AC; Mahasneh, AS (1999-10-15)
An efficient oxidative coupling of thiols to give disulfides via thionitrite (S-nitrosothiol) intermediate is described using trichloronitromethane as an efficient reagent in organic solvents and water. Cysteine and glutathione are converted into the corresponding disulfides in water in high yields.
