In this study, there is a connection between art and science. Some astrophysics subjects were tried to indicate how galaxies formed or black-hole's structure was with marbling art. The study includes process of marbling art and some comments about method from attendants of the 5th International Student Conference of Balkan Physical Union. Ebru art which means C. on the water" was used to decorate papers in the art of the Ottoman. Ebru art is known as cc marbling art" in the European community. Marbling art uses to make figures with different dye in specially prepared water as a method usually for visual and artistic aims. It is also used for therapy due to its relaxing characteristic. This study is carried out to transfer ebru art to the area of physics education. In this vein especially "'formation of galaxies" has been chosen as a topic for teaching it visually by using ebru art. Stars take shape with slack dispersion of nebulas through intensification with the effect of gravity. Formation of galaxies seems to be appropriate theme for teaching a physics subject with marbling art.

The Concept of disinterestedness in modern philosophy of art: Kant, Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, and Heidegger
Akkökler Karatekeli, Büşra; Turan, Şeref Halil; Department of Philosophy (2016)
This thesis aims to investigate the concept of disinterestedness in the modern philosophy of art. To this end, I firstly attempt to elucidate how this concept is described and gained its specific meaning in Kant. Then, I focus on Schopenhauer’s salient contribution to the discussion of aesthetic disinterestedness – thought along with his metaphysics –, namely the body, and attempt to bring into view the relation between the body and aesthetic disinterestedness. In the following, I investigate how Nietzsche’...
The Effect of history of science instruction on elementary students' scientific literacy
Cansız, Mustafa; Sungur Vural, Semra; Öztekin, Ceren; Department of Elementary Education (2014)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the effectiveness of history of science instruction on elementary students' scientific literacy. Specifically, the effectiveness of history of science instruction over curriculum-oriented instruction was examined in terms of four central components of scientific literacy, which are science process skills, understanding of human circulatory system concepts, attitudes toward science, and nature of science views. A total of 95 sixth-grade students from four classes p...
The Contribution of Personality Traits, Motivation, Academic Risk-Taking and Metacognition to the Creative Ability in Mathematics
Erbaş, Ayhan Kürşat (Informa UK Limited, 2015-10-02)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the extent to which personality traits, motivation, academic risk-taking, and metacognition explain the mathematical creative ability of high school students. The participants were 217 9th-grade students that were exceptionally high achievers. The participants responded to a set of measures about personality traits, motivation, academic risk-taking, metacognition, and creative ability in mathematics. The results revealed that although openness to experience and c...
A STUDY ON SOURCES AND CONSEQUENCE OF SCIENCE TEACHERS’ SELF-EFFICACY
Pehlivan, Merve; Sungur, Semra; Sungur, Semra; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2022-2-11)
The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between sources and the consequence of science teachers’ self-efficacy. Science teachers’ self-efficacy was measured in terms of self-efficacy for student engagement, classroom management, and instructional strategies. As sources of self-efficacy Bandura’s hypothesized sources (i.e. mastery experience, vicarious experience, verbal persuasion, and physiological and emotional states), years of experience, implicit beliefs of science ability, and jo...
The contribution of cognitive style and prior knowledge on sixth grade students' knowledge acquisition in polygons in drama based learning environment
Atar Koçkar, Burçin; Ubuz, Behiye; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2010)
The purpose of this study is to investigate the contribution of cognitive style and prior knowledge on 6th grade students' knowledge acquisition in polygons in drama based learning environment. The sample of the study was composed of 112 sixth grade students from a public school in Altındağ district of Ankara. There were 9 drama based lesson plans lasting 16 lesson hours in the study. The data was collected through Group Embedded Figure Test (GEFT), and three types of knowledge tests: Declarative Knowledge ...
