This study investigates the effects of dissipation on the quasi-particle transport in a degenerate molecular trimer in which the time evolution is described by the discrete non-linear Schrodinger equation. The standard procedure of introducing dissipation as a phase-destroying stochastic parameter through the corresponding Liouville-von Neumann equation is employed. A dosed second-order integrodifferential equation describing the time evolution of the site occupation probability difference is derived in the simultaneous presence of non-linearity and dissipation for trimers in compact geometry subjected to specific initial conditions. The Painleve property of the evolution equation is examined and it is found that the system is not of p type.

Slip-flow heat transfer in microtubes with axial conduction and viscous dissipation - An extended Graetz problem
Cetin, Barbaros; Güvenç Yazıcıoğlu, Almıla; KAKAÇ, SADIK (Elsevier BV, 2009-09-01)
This study is an extension of the Graetz problem to include the rarefaction effect, viscous dissipation term and axial conduction with constant-wall-heat-flux thermal boundary condition. The energy equation is solved analytically by using general eigenfunction expansion. The temperature distribution and the local Nusselt number are determined in terms of confluent hypergeometric functions. The effects of the rarefaction, axial conduction and viscous dissipation on the local Nusselt number are discussed in t...
WEAK-COUPLING OPTICAL POLARON IN QW-CONFINED MEDIA
YILDIRIM, T; Erçelebi, Ayşe Çiğdem (IOP Publishing, 1991-06-17)
The ground state of the Frohlich polaron is retrieved as a function of the degree of confinement in a three-dimensional quantum well with tunable barrier potentials. A unified overview of the binding energy interpolating between all possible confinement geometries is provided within the framework of the second-order perturbation theory.
Short-range correlations in a one-dimensional electron gas
Tas, M; Tomak, Mehmet (American Physical Society (APS), 2003-06-15)
We use the Singwi-Sjolander-Tosi-Land (SSTL) approximation to investigate the short-range correlations in a one-dimensional electron gas. We find out that the SSTL approximation satisfies the compressibility sum rule somewhat better than the more widely used Singwi-Tosi-Land-Sjolander approximation in the case of a one-dimensional electron gas.
Symmetry conditions for type II multiferroicity in commensurate magnetic structures
Perez-Mato, J. M.; Gallego, S. V.; Elcoro, L.; Tasci, E.; Aroyo, M. I. (IOP Publishing, 2016-07-20)
Type II multiferroics are magnetically ordered phases that exhibit ferroelectricity as a magnetic induced effect. We show that in single-k magnetic phases the presence in the paramagnetic phase of non-symmorphic symmetry combined with some specific type of magnetic propagation vector can be sufficient for the occurrence of this type of multiferroic behaviour. Other symmetry scenarios especially favourable for spin driven multiferroicity are also presented. We review and classify known type II multiferroics ...
Temperature dependence of magnetic and thermal properties of chiral HyFe and HyMn close to phase transitions by using the Landau mean field model
Tari, Ozlem; Yurtseven, Hasan Hamit (Elsevier BV, 2019-04-15)
Magnetic and thermal properties of chiral metal formate frameworks (MOFs) of NH2NH3M(HCOO)(3), M = Fe, Mn, namely, HyFe and HyMn are investigated close to phase transitions by using Landau phenomenological model. By expanding the free energy in terms of the order parameter, for magnetic properties the temperature dependence of magnetization and inverse magnetic susceptibility, and for thermal properties the heat capacity and entropy are calculated for chiral HyFe and HyMn close to phase transitions using th...
