A novel metal ion sensitive 2,3,3-trimethyl-3H-indole-derived squaraine dye showing different fluorescence responses depending on the complexation stoichiometry has been synthesized. Thus, three levels of signals are attainable by varying the Zn(II) ion concentration.

Investigation of single-walled carbon nanotube growth parameters using alcohol catalytic chemical vapour deposition
Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2005-10-01)
A detailed parametric study of single-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNTs) synthesized in powder form and on substrates using the alcohol catalytic chemical vapour deposition (ACCVD) method is reported. As-grown SWNTs were analysed using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), field-emission scanning electron microscopy (FE-SEM), Raman spectroscopy and UV-vis-NIR spectroscopy to obtain structural and electronic information. We found that nucleation and growth of SWNTs occurs within seconds after introduction of ...
Sol-gel derived tungsten oxide based electrochromic coatings
Işık, Dilek; Durucan, Caner; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
The microstructural, electrochemical and optical properties of sol-gel derived tungsten oxide electrochromic coatings have been investigated. Coatings were formed by spinning of tungsten metal based aqueous sol on glass with native ITO layer. Three sol formulations; acetylated peroxotungstic acid (APTA), peroxotungstic acid (PTA) and titanium-doped peroxotungstic acid (Ti-PTA) were employed to obtain 200-300 nm thick multi-layered coatings. Material and electrochromic characterization of the coatings have b...
Long wavelength mercury cadmium telluride photodiodes and focal plane arrays
Aşıcı, Burak; Beşikci, Cengiz; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
This thesis reports the fabrication and characterization of long wavelength infrared mercury cadmium telluride (Hg1-xCdxTe) photodiodes and 128x128 focal plane arrays grown on lattice matched cadmium zinc telluride (Cd1-yZnyTe) substrates by metal organic vapor phase epitaxy (MOVPE). The dark current modeling of 33x33 mm2 Hg1-xCdxTe photodiodes has shown the dark current is dominated by trap assisted tunneling under small reverse bias voltages typically used to bias these detectors. The dominant dark curren...
Enhanced localized surface plasmon resonance obtained in two step etched silicon nanowires decorated with silver nanoparticles
Mulazimoglu, Emre; Nogay, Gizem; Turan, Raşit; Ünalan, Hüsnü Emrah (2013-09-30)
We report on localized surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) of silicon nanowires decorated with silver nanoparticles. Hydrogen peroxide in metal-assisted-etching method degenerates the surface of nanowires and creates oxygen-related defect sites. These defect sites enhance the infrared absorption at higher frequencies and emit visible light by band-to-band radiative recombination. Moreover, an almost 50-fold enhanced LSPR was obtained for 24 nm thick silver deposited 5 mu m long silicon nanowires. This enhancem...
Ag nanostructures on a poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) film prepared with electrochemical route: A controllable roughened SERS substrate with high repeatability and stability
Dogan, Uzeyir; KAYA, MURAT; CİHANER, ATİLLA; Volkan, Mürvet (2012-12-15)
A simple, reliable and reproducible one-step electrochemical method for the preparation of surface-enhanced Raman-active polymer-mediated silver nanoparticles (Ag NPs) on planar indium tin oxide (ITO) coated glass substrates was reported. Poly(3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene) (PEDOT) film was used as a support material for dispersing nanostructured silver nanostructures on the surface homogeneously, since 3,4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) monomer polymerizes regioregularly. The optical properties and morphologie...
