In this article, we propose a compact cpw-fed ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics. The dual band-notched are achieved by using two stepped impedance resonators. The measured results show that the proposed antenna has an impedance bandwidth from 2.97 to 10.7 GHz (113%), defined by VSWR<2, with two notched bands, covering all the WiMAX (3.3-3.6 GHz), WLAN (5.2-5.8 GHz), the antenna has a small size (20 x 20 x 1.6 mm(3)), and almost stable omnidirectional radiation pattern. The proposed antenna is designed, simulated, fabricated, and tested, and the measured results are in good agreement with the simulations. (c) 2016 Wiley Periodicals, Inc. Assessment of large format InP/InGaAs quantum well infrared photodetector focal plane array
Ozer, S; Cellek, OO; Beşikci, Cengiz (Elsevier BV, 2005-10-01)
We report the fabrication and characteristics of large format (640 x 512) InP/In0.53Ga0.47As long wavelength infrared (LWIR) quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) focal plane array (FPA). The FPA, which is hybridized to a read-out integrated circuit having a charge capacity of 1.1 x 10(7) electrons, yielded a mean noise equivalent temperature difference (NETD) of similar to 40 mK at a cold finger temperature as high as 77 K. The performance of the FPA, being comparable to that of AlGaAs/GaAs QWIP FPAs,...
A NOVEL CPW-FED ANTENNA WITH DUAL BAND-NOTCHED CHARECTRESTICS FOR UWB APPLICATIONS
Sefidi, Mehdi; Zehforoosh, Yashar; Moradi, Shahram (2015-10-01)
In this article, a coplanar waveguide fed (CPW-fed) ultra-wideband (UWB) antenna with dual band-notched characteristics is presented. Using two diamond-shaped stepped impedance resonators, two notched bands are obtained. The simulation and measurement results show that proposed antenna covers the frequency band between 2.85 and 11 GHz (118%), defined by VSWR<2. The proposed antenna has a total size 20 x 20 x 1.6 mm(3) and performed at the whole UWB with dual notched bands at WiMAX (3.4-3.6 GHz) and WLAN (5....
A 2D Slotted Rod Type PhC Cavity Inertial Sensor Design for Impact Sensing
Orsel, Ogulcan Emre; ERDİL, MERTCAN; Kocaman, Serdar (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2020-02-01)
A tunable 2D rod type Si Photonic Crystal cavity based impact sensing configuration is proposed and numerically analyzed. The cavity is sandwiched by perfect electric conductor (PEC) boundaries in order to provide out-of-plane light confinement. An on-purpose air slot is introduced between the Si rods and top PEC plate moving the light confinement into the slotted region and making the cavity highly responsive to the displacement of top PEC boundary. Optomechanical coupling strength is calculated to be on t...
Large format AlInAs-InGaAs quantum-well infrared photodetector focal plane array for midwavelength infrared thermal imaging
Ozer, S.; Tümkaya, Umman; Beşikci, Cengiz (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE), 2007-09-01)
We report the first large format (640 x 512) AlInAs-InGaAs quantum-well infrared photodetector (QWIP) focal plane array (FPA), and investigate the characteristics of AlInAs-InGaAs QWIPs both at pixel and FPA level. The measurements on the detectors fabricated with molecular beam epitaxy grown epilayer structure including 30 InGaAs quantum wells (26 A thick, N-D = 2 x 10(18) cm(-3)) yielded very promising characteristics. The detectors with lambda(p) = 4.2 mu m and Delta lambda/lambda(p) = 25% displayed a ba...
A simple single-mode fiber loss measurement scheme in the C-band based on fiber loop-cavity ringdown spectroscopy
Berberoglu, Halil; Altan, Hakan (Elsevier BV, 2014-04-15)
An extremely sensitive and simple fiber loop-cavity ringdown spectroscopy (FL-CRDS) setup has been designed based on a turn-key nanosecond pulse laser source operating at 1535 nm. The system sensitivity is demonstrated to be approximately 0.01 dB after extracting the characteristic macrobend loss curve of a standard single mode fiber (SMF-28). The experiment demonstrated that the oscillatory behavior in the rapid loss due to the increasing curvature could be seen for single turn bare fibers with radii of cu...
