In this paper, we present, design and analyze a metamaterial (MTM) based sensor to distinguish different types of gasoline and diesel samples. Electromagnetic characterization of the samples is completed experimentally and the obtained data is used in the numerical analysis and in the design of the proposed sensor. Unlike the other studies performed in the literature, this structure offers a highly efficient sensing ability and operates in x-band frequency regime. The designed structure is fabricated and the experimental studies are carried out in the related frequency range. It is also demonstrated that numerical results are in a good agreement with the measurement results. The proposed sensor has highly enough bandwidth to sense the fuel oil samples including gasoline and diesel with different characteristics. The suggested structure can be used effectively as a fuel oil sensor in automotive industry. Besides, due to its simple design and high efficiency, the proposed structure can be adjusted to any other liquid sensing application in any desired frequency band by simple adjustments on the dimensions of the structure.

Fluid model of dc glow discharge with nonlocal ionization source term
Rafatov, İsmail; KUDRYAVTSEV, A. A. (2012-06-29)
We developed and tested a simple hybrid model for a glow discharge, which incorporates nonlocal ionization by fast electrons into the fluid framework. Calculations have been performed for an argon gas. Comparison with the experimental data as well as with the hybrid (particle) and fluid modelling results demonstated good applicability of the proposed model.
Structural and temperature-tuned optical characteristics of Bi12GeO20 sillenite crystals
Delice, S.; Isik, M.; Hasanlı, Nızamı; Darvishov, N.H.; Bagiev, V.E. (Elsevier BV, 2020-08-01)
Sillenite compounds exhibit unique photorefractive and electro-optic characteristics providing attractiveness to these materials in various optoelectronic applications. The present paper aims at investigating one of the members of this family. Structural and optical characteristics of Bi12GeO20 (BGO) were studied by means of x-ray diffraction, Raman spectroscopy and temperature-dependent transmittance measurements. Obtained transmission curves in the wavelength range of 350−1100 nm and at different applied ...
Singularities of spectra of infrared reflection of tertiary compounds of the type T1BX2
Hasanlı, Nızamı; Khomutova, M.D.; Sardarly, R.M.; Tagorov, V.I. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1977-07-01)
The frequencies of lattice vibrations are calculated for compounds of the type T1BX2 on the basis of the linear-chain model. The calculated frequencies are compared with experimental values for TlGaS2 and TlGaSe2. The good agreement between the calculated and experimental frequencies serves as proof of the applicability of the linear-chain model to compounds of the T1BX2 type. The proposed method of calculation of frequencies makes it possible to predict the theoretical frequencies of lattice vibrations of ...
Spectroscopic study and numerical simulation of low-pressure radio-frequency capacitive discharge with argon downstream
Tanisli, Murat; Rafatov, İsmail; Sahin, Neslihan; Mertadam, Sercan; Demir, Suleyman (Canadian Science Publishing, 2017-02-01)
In this study, the characteristic properties and plasma parameters of capacitive radio frequency (RF) argon (Ar) discharge and supplementary discharge at low pressure are investigated with optical emission spectroscopy (OES). The wavelengths of spectral lines from OES are obtained between 650-900 nm. Using OES lines and related experimental data, the electron temperatures for different RF power, flow, and measurement periods are determined. Eventually, the properties of plasma including the electron tempera...
Experimental and numerical parametric analysis of a reoriented duct flow
Başkan Perçin, Özge; Metcalfe, Guy; Clercx, Herman J. H. (Elsevier BV, 2016-05-01)
This study concerns a coupled experimental-numerical analysis of scalar transport in reoriented duct flows found in industrial mixing processes. To this end the study adopts the Rotated Arc Mixer (RAM) as the representative configuration. The focus is on the effects of geometrical (i.e. reorientation angle Theta) and temporal (i.e. reorientation frequency tau) parameters of generic inline mixing devices on the Lagrangian particle dynamics and scalar field evolution. Lagrangian dynamics are investigated by c...
