Production of precipitated calcium carbonate from marble wastes
Sezer, Nurettin; Arol, Ali İhsan; Department of Mining Engineering (2013)
The aim of this study was to investigate the production of precipitated calcium carbonate from marble wastes. Limestone is used as the source for the production of precipitated calcium carbonate. Marble wastes primarily constitute of CaCO3. As the major content of the marble waste and limestone are the same, marble wastes can be used as an alternative source for the production of precipitated calcium carbonate. By this way, both the adverse environmental effects of marble wastes can be prevented and the was...
Production of ammonium nitrohumate from Elbistan lignite and its use as a coal binder
Yildirim, M; Ozbayoglu, G (1997-04-01)
The conversion of Elbistan lignite into nitrogen-rich, alkali-soluble humic acid (ammonium nitrohumate) and its use as a coal binder were investigated. The optimum conditions for nitric acid oxidation and ammoniation were determined. The optimum HNO3 concentration was determined as 4.87 wt%. As a result, a humic acid solution containing 10.75 wt% nitrogen was obtained with 88.2 wt% recovery from Elbistan lignite. Coal-derived humic acid was used as a binder in briquetting of Tuncbilek lignite fines. It was ...
PRODUCTION OF PRECIPITATED CALCIUM CARBONATE FROM MARBLE WASTE BY CALCINATION-HYDRATION-CARBONATION
Baydar, Hazal Melis; Arol, Ali İhsan; Department of Mining Engineering (2022-2)
Precipitated calcium carbonate (PCC) is used as a filler and extender in many different industries, particularly in paint, paper, plastic, adhesive, and sealant. Today, high purity limestone is preferred as a raw material for PCC production. In this study, it is aimed to use marble waste as an alternative raw material, which has nearly the same chemical composition as limestone. In this regard, the possibility of recycling the marble waste to produce PCC, a product with added value, was investigated. In the...
