The analysis of the electrical machines operation, usually appeals to monitoring and diagnosis techniques, the operation faults involving electrical, mechanical and aero-dynamical parameters modification. The mechanical faults are due mainly to the unbalance of the rotating parts of the electrical machines and their analysis can be carried out using the vibration amplitude versus time and/or the vibration speed versus frequency characteristics. This paper presents a fault identification method, using a comparative analysis of the vibration speed determined by two identical equipments. The proposed method is suitable for instance in the case of several identical generators in hydroelectric plants, but, in the present paper the method was applied to a secure glass manufacturing production line.

Integrated circuit design for annular capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer
Kılıç, Yusuf Kutluhan; Bayram, Barış; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
The conventional ultrasound systems consist of many separated parts, and the bulky cables for connections result in a problem to be resolved. The systems with integrated interface electronics preferable since the removal of bulky cables resolves the signal degradation problems. In this thesis, a flexible and high drive capability digitally controlled beamformer is designed. The beamformer is designed to be integrated with annular capacitive micromachined ultrasonic transducer (CMUT) arrays. Although the bea...
Shaft transducerless vector control of the interior permanent magnet motor with speed and position estimation using high frequency signal injection and flux observer methods
Göksu, Ömer; Hava, Ahmet Masum; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2008)
In this thesis, shaft transducerless vector control of Interior Permanent Magnet (IPM) motor with speed and position estimation using saliency based high frequency signal injection and fundamental model based flux observer methods will be investigated. The magnetic saliency characteristic of a 2.2-kW IPM motor will be experimentally extracted by means of high frequency signal injection. High frequency signal injection method will be used to estimate the speed and position at zero and low speed based on the ...
Temperature estimation of switched reluctance machines using thermal impulse response technique
Rahman, Nasim Arbab; Gu, Lei; Bostancı, Emine; Fahimi, Babak (2017-01-12)
Identifying the hot spots in an electrical machine is a critical step in the electromagnetic design process. Failure of this diagnosis can result in significant damages to the machine. However, a detailed thermal analysis of an electric machine can be extremely time consuming. Therefore, a new approach called Thermal Impulse Response (TIR) modelling is proposed to estimate the temperature of various parts in an electric machine. Use of TIR modelling will improve the simulation time significantly. Simulation...
Analysis of conventional low voltage power line communication methods for automatic meter reading and the classification and experimental verification of noise types for low voltage power line communication network
Danışman, Batuhan; Sevaioğlu, Osman; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2009)
In this thesis, the conventional low voltage power line communication methods is investigated in the axis of automated meter reading applications and the classification and experimental verification of common noise types for low voltage power line communication network. The investigated system provides the real time transmission of electricity consumption data recorded by electricity meters, initially to a local computer via a low voltage line through a low speed PLC (Power Line Carrier) environment and sub...
Continuation power flow and voltage stability in power systems
Keskin, Mehmet B; Ertaş, Arif; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2007)
This thesis investigates an important power system phenomenon, voltage stability, by using continuation power flow method. Voltage collapse scenario is presented which can be a serious result of voltage instability and the parameters that affect voltage collapse are discussed. In analyzing power system voltage stability, continuation power flow method is utilized which consists of successive load flows. This method is applied to a sample test system and Turkish Power System and load-voltage curves for sever...
