Livelms: a blended e-learning environment, a model proposition for integration of asynchronous and synchronous e-learning
Er, Erkan; Arifoğlu, Ali; Department of Information Systems (2009)
In distance education, lack of face-to-face communication prevents instructors from observing students’ activities efficiently, especially in crowded sessions, and consequently they fail to effectively assess the performance of distant learners. On the other hand, in spite of being physically distant, instructor should monitor students’ activities and assess their performance effectively so that learners can be informed as quickly as possible of how well they are doing. This thesis aims to develop an e-lear...
Synthesis of heteroaryl substituted dihydrofuran and dihydropyran derivatives by green chemistry approach
Demirci, Sema; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2009)
The thesis subject is mainly involved in Green Chemistry approach. Thiophene, furan and pyridine carboxaldehydes were chosen as starting compounds and vinylation and allylation with Grignard reaction afforded the corresponding racemic heteroaryl substituted allylic and homoallylic alcohols. Subsequent resolution with enzymes (PS-Amano II, Lipozym and Novazym 435) gave enantiomerically enriched alcohols with the e.e. values varied between 65 and 99%. The absolute configurations of all substrates are known. A...

New strategy for the synthesis of chiral N-substituted-3,4-dialkoxypyrrole from 2,5-dihydro-2,5-dimethoxyfuran
Kapaklı, Fadile; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2006)
Pyrroles are very valuable class of substances which have wide usage area in organic synthesis. In this study, chiral 3,4-dialkoxy-N-substituted pyrrole derivatives were synthesized. These compounds are widely used as building blocks for the synthesis of natural compounds that have focused on heterocyclic rings in their structures. In addition, chiral pyrrole derivatives can be used as monomers for the synthesis of chiral conducting polymers which have received great interest due to their potential applicat...
Chiral 2-aminodmap/sulfonamides and squaramides as bifunctional acid/base organocatalysts in asymmetric catalysis
Işık, Murat; Tanyeli, Cihangir; Department of Chemistry (2011)
Synthesis and evaluation of catalytic performances of novel bifunctional 2- aminoDMAP-Thiourea/ Sulfonamide/ Squaramide organocatalysts derived from trans-(R,R)-cyclohexane-1,2-diamine forms the main goal of this thesis. For this purpose, direct selective mono-N-pyridilization of trans-(R,R)-cyclohexane-1,2- diamine via Pd and Cu catalysis is described successfully first. Facile preparation of chiral 2-aminoDMAP core catalaphore led to the development of various 2- aminoDMAP- Thiourea/ Sulfonamides/ Squaram...
