PRODUCTION OF SUPERCONDUCTING THICK-FILMS THROUGH CATION CHELATED ORGANIC PRECURSORS

1992-01-01
A process involving dissolution of cations from oxides and carbonates in a polyhydroxyl alcohol solution has been made real, which enables us to produce high-Tc superconducting Y-Ba-Cu-O thick films of desired thickness. It was demonstrated that 5–30 μm thick films of Y-Ba-Cu-O system can be successfully synthesized from the oxides and carbonates by painting onto different substrates, namely siliconwafer, single crystal quartz and α-alumina. Also it was shown that the substrate material played ultimate role on the superconducting behaviour of the films and adhesivity of these films.

Characterization of nanostructured magnetite thin films produced by sol-gel processing
Eken, Ali Erdem; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit (2009-06-01)
Nanocrystalline films of magnetite have been prepared by a novel sol-gel route in which, a solution of iron (III) nitrate dissolved in ethylene glycol was applied on glass substrates by spin coating. Coating solution showed Newtonian behaviour and viscosity was found as 0.0215 Pa.s. Annealing temperature was selected between 291 and 350 A degrees C by DTA analysis in order to obtain magnetite films. In-plane grazing angle XRD and TEM studies showed that magnetite phase was present upon annealing the films a...
Synthesis of biomimetic Ca-hydroxyapatite powders at 37 degrees C in synthetic body fluids
Tas, AC (2000-07-01)
An important inorganic phase for synthetic bone applications, calcium hydroxyapatite (HA, Ca-10(PO4)(6)(OH)(2)), was prepared as a nano-sized (similar to 50 nm), homogeneous and high-purity ceramic powder from calcium nitrate tetrahydrate and diammonium hydrogen phosphate salts dissolved in modified synthetic body fluid (SBF) solutions at 37 degrees C and pH of 7.4 using a novel chemical precipitation technique. The synthesized precursors were found to easily reach a phase purity >99% after 6 h of calcinati...
Synthesis of polymer-supported TEMPO catalysts and their application in the oxidation of various alcohols
Tanyeli, Cihangir (2003-02-17)
We describe the synthesis of a recyclable polymer-supported TEMPO as a catalyst in the Anelli oxidation of various primary alcohols to afford the corresponding aldehydes in good yields. (C) 2003 Elsevier Science Ltd. All rights reserved.
Formation and characterization of infrared absorbing copper oxide surfaces
Arslan, Burcu; Erdogan, Metehan; Karakaya, İshak (2017-04-30)
Copper oxide formation has been investigated to combine the advantages of producing different size and shapes of coatings that possess good light absorbing properties. An aqueous blackening solution was investigated and optimum composition was found as 2.5 M NaOH and 0.225 M NaClO to form velvet copper oxide films. A two-step oxidation mechanism was proposed for the blackening process by carefully examining the experimental results. Formation of Cu2O was observed until the entire copper surface was covered ...
Characterization of magnetite thin films produced by sol-gel processing
Eken, Ali Erdem; Özenbaş, Ahmet Macit; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2008)
Magnetite (Fe3O4) thin films were prepared by a sol-gel process in which, a solution of iron (III) nitrate dissolved in ethylene glycol was applied on glass substrates by spin coating. Xerogel films were obtained by drying the coated films at 110 °C. The films were sintered between 300 °C and 450 °C in order to observe the phases existing in the films at different temperatures. Coating solution showed Newtonian behaviour and viscosity was found as 0.0215 Pa.s. DTA analysis showed that, sintering temperature...
