The inhibitory effects of lindane in batch and upflow anaerobic sludge blanket reactors
Bayramoğlu, Tuba Hande; Demirer, Göksel Niyazi (Elsevier BV, 2003-01-01)
In this study, the inhibitory effects of lindane (LIN) on originally unacclimated mixed anaerobic cultures were investigated by anaerobic toxicity assay (ATA) experiments. ATA experiments revealed that 10 mg/l LIN exerted inhibitory effects on anaerobic cultures, which was recoverable. Continuous reactor experiments conducted to determine the inhibitory effects of LIN and the maximum LIN loading rate achievable in two-stage upflow anaerobic sludge blanket (UASB) reactors indicated that anaerobic granular cu...

The Effects of seed sludge type and anoxic / aerobic period sequence on aerobic granulation and KOD, N treatment performance
Erşan, Yusuf Çağatay; Bayramoğlu, Tuba Hande; Department of Environmental Engineering (2013)
The aim of this master thesis study was improvement of the required operational conditions for aerobic granulation in sequencing batch reactors (SBRs). In the first part of the study, membrane bioreactor sludge (MBS) and conventional activated sludge (CAS), were used to investigate the effect of suspended seed sludge type on granulation in SBRs. The MBS granules were found to be advantageous in terms of size, resistance to toxic effects, stability and recovery compared to CAS granules. During non-inhibitory...
The effects of local and sustained release of fibroblast growth factor on wound heating in esophageal anastomoses

Background/ Purpose: Postsurgical complications, such as anastomotic leaks in patients with esophageal atresia, have remained unchanged during the last 3 decades. Growth factors enhance healing in several wound-healing models. Therefore, an experimental study was used to evaluate the effects of local and sustained release of basic fibroblast growth factor (FGF) on wound healing in esophageal anastomoses.
The Effects of Clinical and Home‐based Physiotherapy Programs in Secondary Head and Neck Lymphedema
Ozdemir, Kadirhan; Keser, Ilke; Duzlu, Mehmet; Erpolat, Ozge P.; Saranlı, Uluç; Tutar, Hakan (Wiley, 2020-10-28)
Objectives/Hypothesis: To determine the effects of complex decongestive physiotherapy (CDP) and home programs on external lymphedema, staging of lymphedema, fibrosis, and three-dimensional (3D) surface scanning and volume evaluation in head and neck lymphedema. Study Design: A prospective randomized controlled study. Methods: Twenty-one patients were randomly divided into three groups: CDP (n:7), home program (n:7), and control (n:7). Assessment methods were applied at baseline and 4 weeks later for all gro...
