A general analysis of the lepton polarizations in B-s ->gamma l(+)l(-) decays
Yilmaz, UO; Sirvanli, BB; Turan, Gürsevil (Elsevier BV, 2004-08-02)
We present a general analysis of the lepton polarizations in the rare B-s --> gammal(+)l(-) decays by using the most general model-independent form of the effective Hamiltonian. The sensitivity of the longitudinal, transverse and normal polarizations of final state leptons, as well as lepton-antilepton combined asymmetries, on the new Wilson coefficients are investigated. It has been shown that all these physical observables are very sensitive to the existence of new physics beyond the standard model and th...
A Comparison of Boundary Element and Spectral Collocation Approaches to the Thermally Coupled MHD Problem
Bozkaya, Canan; Türk, Önder (2021-05-03)
The thermally coupled full magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) flow is numerically investigated in a square cavity subject to an externally applied uniform magnetic field. The governing equations given in terms of stream function, vorticity, temperature, magnetic stream function, and current density, are discretized spatially using both the dual reciprocity boundary element method (DRBEM) and the Chebyshev spectral collocation method (CSCM) while an unconditionally stable backward difference scheme is employed for th...

A comparison of subspace based face recognition methods
Gönder, Özkan; Halıcı, Uğur; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2004)
Different approaches to the face recognition are studied in this thesis. These approaches are PCA (Eigenface), Kernel Eigenface and Fisher LDA. Principal component analysis extracts the most important information contained in the face to construct a computational model that best describes the face. In Eigenface approach, variation between the face images are described by using a set of characteristic face images in order to find out the eigenvectors (Eigenfaces) of the covariance matrix of the distribution,...
