Finansallaşma, Yeni Sınıfsal Çelişkiler ve Devletin Dönüşümü

2019-01-01

Economic liberalism and performance of developing countries: a comparative analysis
Altun, Gizem; Şenses, Fikret; Department of Economics (2009)
Economic liberalism has always been a very controversial issue in the content of development economics. The relation of neo-liberalism with economic development, as today’s dominant discourse of economics, has been highly debated in the last decades. The main objective of this thesis is to investigate this relationship via comparing four countries’ development experiences; Argentina, China, Turkey and Poland, in between 1965-2005. In addition to that purpose, this thesis aims to analyze whether the experien...

Capitalism and democracy at a crossroads: the civilizational dimension
Ozveren, E (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2000-01-01)
This paper evaluates Schumpeter's grand vision as reflected in his Capitalism, Socialism ann Democracy, and elaborates it in conjunction with the so-called "globalization" trends characteristic of the wake of the twenty-first century. In addition to the evolutionary nature of his methodology, the institutionalist dimension of Schumpeter's definitions are brought to light. A case is made for a fundamental process of "uncreative destruction" as far as the institutional setup of the economy is concerned. The c...
Foreign money shocks and the welfare performance of alternative monetary policy regimes
Senay, Ozge; Sutherland, Alan (Wiley, 2007-01-01)
The welfare properties of monetary policy regimes for a country subject to foreign money shocks are examined in a two-country sticky-price model. Money targeting is found to be welfare superior to a fixed exchange rate when the expenditure switching effect of exchange rate changes is relatively weak, but a fixed rate is superior when the expenditure switching effect is strong. However, price targeting is superior to both these regimes for all values of the expenditure switching effect. A welfare-maximising ...
Deunionization and pay inequality in OECD Countries: A panel Granger causality approach
Tongur, Unal; Elveren, Adem Yavuz (Elsevier BV, 2014-02-01)
The impact of unionization on wage inequality has been examined by a vast literature. Focusing mostly on the US and the UK in time series analyses or on OECD countries in panel data analyses, a bulk of these studies have found a negative impact of deunionization (i.e. decline in the union density rate) on distribution of wages. By utilizing two inequality data sets both provided by the University of Texas Inequality Project and the union density data set provided by OECD this paper contributes to the litera...
