The variation of the lattice parameters of TlBX2-type mixed crystals with composition have been investigated by X-ray diffraction technique. The lattice anisotropy (c/a) of the mixed crystals changes linearly depending on substitution of the atoms located both at the centre and at the vertices of the BX4 tetrahedra. For some of the mixed crystals studied, structural phase transition (monoclinic ⇌ tetragonal) is observed due to atom substitution when the sum of tetrahedral covalent radii of the B and X atoms in BX4 tetrahedra reaches a critical value of about 0.255 nm.

Effect of isomorphic atom substitution on the lattice parameters and the optical absorption edge of TlGaSe2-TlInSe2 mixed crystals
Gasanly, N. M. (2006-05-01)
The variation of lattice parameters of TlGaSe2-TlInSe2 mixed crystals with composition have been investigated by using of X-ray diffraction technique. For the mixed crystals studied, a structural phase transition (monoclinic to tetragonal) due to atom substitution is observed when the sum of the tetrahedral covalent radii of the Ga(In) and the Se atoms in Ga(In)Se-4 tetrahedra reaches a critical value of about 0.254 nm. From transmission and reflection measurements, the compositional dependence of the indir...

Influence of isomorphic atom substitution on lattice anisotropy of thallium dichalcogenide layered mixed crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2006-10-01)
Compositional variation of the lattice parameters of TlBX2-type (B = Ga or In and X = S or Se) mixed crystals with monoclinic structure were studied by X-ray diffraction technique. The lattice anisotropy (c/b) of these mixed crystals changes linearly with substitution of the atoms located both at the centers and the vertices of the corresponding BX4 tetrahedra. A brief survey of the important features of the effect of isomorphic atom substitution on the lattice anisotropy and the unit cell volume of TIBX2-t...
Effect of temperature and isomorphic atom substitution on optical absorption edge of TlInS2xSe2(1-x) mixed crystals (0.25 <= x <= 1)
Hasanlı, Nızamı (Wiley, 2010-05-01)
The optical properties of the TlInS2xSe2(1-x) mixed crystals (0.25 <= x <= 1) have been investigated through the transmission and reflection measurements in the wavelength range of 400-1100 nm. The optical indirect band gap energies were determined by means of the analysis of the absorption data. It was found that the energy band gaps decrease with the increase of selenium atoms content in the TlInS2xSe2(1-x) mixed crystals. The transmission measurements carried out in the temperature range of 10-300 K reve...
Effect of hydrogenation on B/Si(001)-(1 x 2)
Cakmak, M.; Mete, E.; Ellialtıoğlu, Süleyman Şinasi (Elsevier BV, 2007-09-15)
Ab initio calculations, based on pseudopotentials and density functional theory, have been performed to investigate the effect of hydrogenation on the atomic geometries and the energetics of substitutional boron on the generic Si(001)-(1 x 2) surface. For a single B atom substitution corresponding to 0.5 ML coverage, we have considered two different sites: (i) the mixed Si-B dimer structure and (ii) boron substituting for the second-layer Si to form Si-B back-bond structure, which is energetically more favo...
