Determination of pre-scission kinetic energy in low energy fission using Isotonic Charge Distribution Model
Buyukmumcu, Z; Kildir, M; Aras, NK (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1996-04-01)
The parameters of Isotonic Charge Distribution Model have been calculated for several isotones of three law energy fissioning systems. The global charge even-add effects are determined as 0.27 +/- 0.04 for thermal neutron induced fission of U-233(U233T), 0.27 +/- 0.05 for U235T and 0.13 +/- 0.05 for PU239T. The pre-scission kinetic energies for U235T and PU239T are estimated and found to be similar to 16 MeV.
Determination of Deformation Distributions in Welded Steel Tension Elements Using Digital Image Technigues
Sözen, Şahin; Güler, Murat (2010-09-27)
It is known that material properties, connection quality and manufacturing methods are among the important factors directly affecting the behavior of steel connections and hence steel structures. The possible performance differences between a fabricated connection and its computer model may cause critical design problems for steel structures. Achieving a reliable design depends, however, on how accurately the material properties and relevant constitutive models are considered to characterize the behavior of...
Determination of hydraulic parameters of semi-infinite aquifers using Marquardt algorithm
Taşkan, Cüneyt; Önder, Halil; Department of Civil Engineering (2004)
In this study, transmissivity and storage coefficient of a semi-infinite, confined, homogeneous and isotropic aquifer, where the flow is one-dimensional and linear, are determined using Marquardt algorithm, considering two independent cases: constant drawdown in the adjacent stream; or constant discharge from the aquifer due to pumping at a constant rate. In the first case piezometric head and discharge measurements are utilized. Hydraulic diffusivity, which is the ratio of transmissivity to storage coeffic...
Determination of shot peening effect on fatigue behavior of AISI 4140 steel by non-destructive measurement of surface residual stresses
Çalışkan, Salim; Gür, Cemil Hakan; Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering (2018)
The fatigue performance of aircraft parts can be improved by inducing compressive residual stresses in the near-surface zone by shot-peening. The depth profile and the magnitude of residual stresses depend on the shot peening parameters. Aircraft industry requires an easy and rapid non-destructive method for determination of residual stress state to verify the achievement of the desired results of shot-peening. This study aims to determine nondestructively the residual stresses at the surface by the Magneti...
