The tumbling-abrasion indices of iron ore pellets are measured according to instructions in ASTM E279- 97 (2010). This test measures the resistance of the product pellets under certain abrasive condition in a standard test drum. However, this test requires 11.3 kg pellet to carry out a single tumbling-abrasion test. This amount of pellet can be obtained from industrial-scale pellet production. However, it is impossible to produce this amount of pellet in laboratory-scale investigation since the capacities of laboratory equipment are low. Therefore, this test can not be applied in laboratory-scale pellet investigations. In this study, laboratory studies were carried out to determine the tumbling-abrasion indices of pellets in small quantities (500-1000 gram) via an alternative test method. Industrial-scaleproduced 4 different pellet samples were obtained from a company. Tumbling-abrasion tests were carried out with a scale-down test drum under different test conditions. It has been investigated whether the results of pellet abrasion in different test conditions are consistent and reproducible. According to the results, it was determined that the pellet abrasion values can be obtained consistently and reproducible by using the small quantities of pellet sample in a scale-down abrasion test drum.

EVALUATION OF LOW GRADE IRON ORE DEPOSIT IN ERZINCAN-TURKEY FOR IRON ORE PELLET CONCENTRATE PRODUCTION
SİVRİKAYA, OSMAN; Arol, Ali İhsan (2012-01-01)
In this study the separation possibility of gangue minerals from a low grade magnetite ore with 45% Fe from an iron ore deposit located near Erzincan-Turkey was investigated. The iron ore deposit consists of mainly magnetite mineral. Hematite is the second iron oxide found in the deposit. The gangue minerals contain mainly SiO2 and Al2O3 impurities. The main object of the research is to investigate the production of a concentrate suitable for iron ore pellet production. The concentrate for pellet production...
Comparison of different methods on the enrichment of Konya Inlice epithermal gold ores
Döğme, Ayşe Nur (2020-01-01)
In this study, firstly, enrichment experiments were carried out on the epithermal gold ore belonging to the Konya-Inlice region containing 2.38 ppm Au-containing oxide type ore and 1.39 ppm Au-containing sulfur ore with using Falcon device as a gravity enrichment method. In these group experiments, the effects of parameters such as centrifugal force, bowl type effect, and a solid ration of feeding were investigated. As the second enrichment method, the conventional flotation technique was applied. In these ...
Comparison of intergrinding and separate grinding for the production of natural pozzolan and GBFS-incorporated blended cements
Erdogdu, K; Tokyay, Mustafa; Turker, P (1999-05-01)
A portland cement clinker, a natural pozzolan, and a granulated blast furnace slag (GBFS) were used to obtain blended cements that contain 25% mineral additives. The natural pozzolan, which was softer, was more grindable and granulated blast furnace slag, which was harder, was less grindable than the clinker. Two of the cements produced were obtained by intergrinding and the other two were obtained by separate grinding and then blending. All of the blended cements and the control cement without any additive...
Measurement of the Z/A dependence of neutrino charged-current total cross-sections
Kayis-Topaksu, A; et. al. (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2003-09-01)
A relative measurement of total cross-sections is reported for polyethylene, marble, iron, and lead targets for the inclusive charged-current reaction nu(mu) + N --> mu- + X. The targets, passive blocks of similar to100 kg each, were exposed simultaneously to the CERN SPS wide-band muon-neutrino beam over a period of 18 weeks. Systematic effects due to differences in the neutrino flux and detector efficiency for the different target locations were minimised by changing the position of the four targets on th...
Evaluation of fatigue performance of a fillet rolled diesel engine crankshaft
Cevik, Gul; Gürbüz, Rıza (2013-01-01)
This paper summarizes an investigation of the effect of fillet rolling on fatigue behavior of a ductile cast iron crankshaft used in diesel engine applications. Based on the staircase test methodology, resonant bending fatigue tests were conducted to obtain stress versus number of cycles curves and to evaluate the fatigue endurance limits of ductile iron crankshaft under fillet rolled and un-rolled conditions. The corresponding stress levels on the fillet region by the applied test moments were calculated b...
