Low-temperature photoluminescence in CuIn5S8 single crystals
Hasanlı, Nızamı (2016-06-01)
Photoluminescence (PL) spectra of CuIn5S8 single crystals grown by Bridgman method have been studied in the wavelength region of 720-1020 nm and in the temperature range of 10-34 K. A broad PL band centred at 861 nm (1.44 eV) was observed at T = 10 K. Variations of emission band has been studied as a function of excitation laser intensity in the 0.5- 60.2 mW cm(-2) range. Radiative transitions from shallow donor level located at 17 meV below the bottom of the conduction band to the acceptor level located at...
High-capacity hydrogen storage by metallized graphene
Ataca, C.; Akturk, E.; ÇIRACI, SALİM; Toffoli, Hande (AIP Publishing, 2008-07-01)
First- principles plane wave calculations predict that Li can be adsorbed on graphene forming a uniform and stable coverage on both sides. A significant part of the electronic charge of the Li 2s orbital is donated to graphene and is accommodated by its distorted pi*- bands. As a result, semimetallic graphene and semiconducting graphene ribbons change into good metals. It is even more remarkable that Li covered graphene can serve as a high- capacity hydrogen storage medium with each adsorbed Li absorbing up...
Low-temperature thermoluminescence in TlGaS2 layered single crystals
Isik, M.; Bulur, Enver; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2013-03-01)
Thermoluminescence (TL) measurements have been carried out on TlGaS2 layered single crystals in the temperature range of 10-300 K. After illuminating with blue light (similar to 470 nm) at 10 K, TL glow curves exhibited peaks around 23, 36, 58, 75 and 120 K when measured with a heating rate of 0.8 K/s. The observed peaks were analyzed using curve fitting, initial rise, and peak shape methods to determine the activation energies of the associated defect centers. Analyses have revealed the presence of five de...
Low-frequency Breakdown of the Potential Integral Equations and Its Remedy
Gür, Uğur Meriç; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2017-11-22)
Potential integral equations (PIEs) introduced recently also have a low-frequency breakdown that becomes visible when considering the electric charge density and near-zone electric field intensity values. As opposed to the well-known low-frequency breakdown of the electric-field integral equation (EFIE), which shows itself as both inaccuracy and ill-conditioning, the low-frequency breakdown of PIEs is not related to the conditioning properties of the related matrix equations. Therefore, we clearly distingui...
Short fatigue crack growth in AL 2024-T3 and AL 7075-T6
Kaynak, Cevdet (Elsevier BV, 1992-01-01)
Short fatigue crack growth behavior was investigated. The crack growth was monitored using a replica technique for cracks propagating on the specimen notch from an initial length of 40-50 mum to the specimen thickness of 2.3 mm. As part of the AGARD round robin test program Al 2024-T3 and Al 7075-T6 specimens with semi-circular notches on one edge were tested under R-ratios of 0.5, 0, -1 and -2. For each R -ratio several stress levels were used. In order to compare the behavior of short and long cracks, the...
