Assessment of Longevity Risk on PensionFunds: Credibility Approach

2019-10-28
Over the last 100 years, there has been a steady decline in mortality rates. With the unexpected decrease in death rates; variability in the age of death declined and deaths are concentrated to the older years of life, therefore, causing deficits in the pooled funds of insurance and pension providers, which are built upon the underestimated rates. To correctly measure the effect of mortality rates on the financial stability of these providers, longevity risk should be taken seriously. This study aims to investigate the future mortality and longevity risk of three countries with different age structures. Turkey, Germany, and Japan are chosen with respect to their expected life and population distributions. Lee-Carter mortality model is used on the historical census data to forecast future mortality rates. The longevity risk on a hypothetical portfolio is assessed based on static and dynamic mortality table approaches. To determine the impact of longevity risk retrieved from the use of a stochastic mortality model and a pension product, annuity, is taken into account. The net single premium, variance and the risk measures for the annuity are quantified under the proposed set up for the selected countries. Additionally, a credibility approach is proposed to establish a reliable estimate for the annuity net single premium between the static and dynamic

Effect of Turkish mortality developments on the expected lifetime and annuity using entropy measure

Over the past three centuries, there has been a steady and gradual decline in mortality rates due to a considerable process of eliminating hazards to survival, which have increased the life expectancy at birth remarkably. The improvements in mortality rates often been underestimated by annuity and pension providers. To measure the effect of mortality rate developments on life expectancy or annuity, many demographers use the idea of entropy. We use the entropy measure to explain the effect of any change in m...

Starting from the second half of the 20th century, the number of aged people and people with aging-related disabilities has increased significantly in the world. Parallel to this increase, special projects have been developed for aged people in the developed countries, but with these projects aged people were often excluded from society. People with disabilities were already living isolated from society. With the effect of raising awareness in the public after the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Hu...

Context of use of home use medical devices: a study on the identification of contextual factors of CPAP devices
Aydın, Merve; Börekçi, Naz Ayşe Güzide Z.; Department of Industrial Design (2014)
World population is getting older and technology is advancing rapidly over the last decades. At the intersection of these changes, there is a growing desire to provide more effective healthcare to the elder population with the help of improving technology. Medical devices have started to become miniaturized, simplified and affordable enough to find their way out of hospitals into homes. This situation has affected the design considerations on medical devices due to the change of the user groups and product ...
