Efficient computation of strong partial transitive-closures
Toroslu, İsmail Hakkı (null; 1993-01-01)
The development of efficient algorithms to process the different forms of the transitive-closure (TC) queries within the context of large database systems has recently attracted a large volume of research efforts. In this paper, we present a new algorithm suitable for processing one of these forms, the so called strong partially-instantiated, in which one of the query's argument is instantiated to a set of constants and the processing of which yields a set of tuples that draw their values form both of the q...
Optimum design and operation of 'a pump-piping-storage system'
Kaplan, H; Seireg, A; Dölen, Melik (Inderscience Publishers, 2001-01-01)
The study reported in this paper is undertaken to develop a computer simulation and an optimum design and operation strategy for a general storage system. The influence of various design parameters on the total operation cost of the system for a general delivery regime is also studied.
Schedulability analysis of real-time multiframe cosimulations on multicore platforms
Ahsan, Muhammad Uzair; Oğuztüzün, Mehmet Halit S. (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Turkey, 2019-01-01)
For real-time simulations, the fidelity of simulation depends not only on the functional accuracy of simulation but also on its timeliness. It is helpful for simulation designers if they can analyze and verify that a simulation will always meet its timing requirements without unnecessarily sacrificing functional accuracy. Abstracting the simulated processes simply as software tasks allows us to transform the problem of verifying timeliness into a schedulability analysis problem where tasks are checked as to...
Efficient simulation-based discrete optimization
Guikema, SD; Davidson, RA; Ertuğrul, Zehra (2004-01-01)
In many practical applications of simulation it is desirable to optimize the levels of integer or binary variables that are inputs for the simulation model. In these cases, the objective function must often be estimated through an expensive simulation process, and the optimization problem is NP-hard, leading to a computationally difficult problem. We investigate efficient solution methods for this problem, and we propose an approach that reduces the number of runs of the simulation by using ridge regression...
Mask Combination of Multi-Layer Graphs for Global Structure Inference
Bayram, Eda; Thanou, Dorina; Vural, Elif; Frossard, Pascal (2020-01-01)
Structure inference is an important task for network data processing and analysis in data science. In recent years, quite a few approaches have been developed to learn the graph structure underlying a set of observations captured in a data space. Although real-world data is often acquired in settings where relationships are influenced by a priori known rules, such domain knowledge is still not well exploited in structure inference problems. In this paper, we identify the structure of signals defined in a da...
