Non-linear viscoelasticity for epoxy-based polymers: theoretical modeling and numerical implementation
Koral, Ateş; Dal, Hüsnü; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2019)
The present thesis aims at modeling creep behaviour under hydrostatic and uniaxial loadings of a certain silica filled epoxy compound at various temperatures with numerical implementation of algorithms into finite element method. Time dependent behaviour of polymers has been examined and many approaches have been proposed by researchers. Some of the models are inspired from micro-mechanical structure of polymers. These models generally take relaxation of a single entangled chain in a polymer gel matrix upon...
Non-darcian flow in a fractured aquifer
Altınörs, Adnan Altay; Önder, Halil; Department of Civil Engineering (2005)
Non-Darcian flow in a finite fractured aquifer is studied in this thesis. A stream bounds the aquifer at one side and an impervious stratum at the other. The aquifer consists of fractures capable of transmitting water rapidly and porous blocks which mainly store water. Unsteady flow in the aquifer due to a sudden or a gradual rise in the stream level is analysed by the double-porosity conceptual model. Governing equations for the flow in fractures and blocks are developed using the continuity equation. The ...

Non-autonomous grazing phenomenon
Akhmet, Marat (2017-02-01)
Non-autonomous grazing phenomenon is investigated through periodic systems and their solutions. The analysis is different than for autonomous systems in many aspects. Conditions for the existence of a linearization have been found. Stability of a periodic solution and its persistence under regular perturbations are investigated. Through examples, the theoretical results are visualized.
Low-Temperature Thermo luminescence Studies on TlInS2 Layered Single Crystals
Isik, M.; Delice, S.; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2014-12-01)
Thermoluminescence characteristics of TlInS2 layered single crystals grown by the Bridgman method were investigated in the low temperature range of 10-300 K. The illuminated sample with blue light (approximate to 470 nm) at 10 K was heated at constant heating rate. Curve fitting, initial rise and various heating rate methods were used to determine the activation energy of the trap levels. All applied methods showed good consistency about the presence of five trapping centers located at 14, 19, 350, 420, and...
