—The effects of electromagnetic coupling on constitutive S-Parameters of bi-anisotropically designed metamaterial (MM) structure with several boundary conditions (PEC, PMC, UC) are analyzed. It is disclosed that in addition to the main electromagnetic coupling effect on the constitutive parameters of resonating MM structure, boundary conditions have an influence on this coupling effect because of the different imaging properties of the boundaries. The effects of electric and magnetic excitations on SRR and the exotic symptoms of them are examined. CST Microwave Studio is used for the simulation and extraction of constitutive parameters of the bi-anisotropic MM slab

Accurate analysis of metamaterials involving finite arrays of split-ring resonators and thin wires
Gurel, Levent; Ergül, Özgür Salih; Unal, Alper (2007-03-30)
In order to gain physical insight into how some metamaterial structures behave, we report our results obtained by accurate numerical solutions of electromagnetic problems related to various constructions of split-ring-resonators (SRRs) and thin wires (TWs). Single and multiple layers of arrays of SRRs and TWs are investigated in detail using the electric-field integral equation. Without utilizing any homogenization techniques, we accurately model large numbers of unit cells that translate into very large co...
Measurement of chi(c1) and chi(c2) production with root s=7 TeV pp collisions at ATLAS
Aad, G.; et. al. (2014-07-01)
The prompt and non-prompt production cross-sections for the chi(c1) and chi(c2) charmonium states are measured in pp collisions at root s = 7TeV with the ATLAS detector at the LHC using 4.5 fb(-1) of integrated luminosity. The chi(c) states are reconstructed through the radiative decay chi c -> J/psi gamma ( with J/psi -> mu(+)mu(-)) where photons are reconstructed from gamma -> e(+)e(-) conversions. The production rate of the chi(c2) state relative to the chi(c1) state is measured for prompt and non-prompt...
Analysis of reconstruction performance of magnetic resonance conductivity tensor imaging (MRCTI) using simulated measurements
DEĞİRMENCİ, EVREN; Eyüboğlu, Behçet Murat (2017-01-01)
Magnetic resonance conductivity tensor imaging (MRCTI) was proposed recently to produce electrical conductivity images of anisotropic tissues. Similar to magnetic resonance electrical impedance tomography (MREIT), MRCTI uses magnetic field and boundary potential measurements obtained utilizing magnetic resonance imaging techniques. MRCTI reconstructs tensor images of anisotropic conductivity whereas MREIT reconstructs isotropic conductivity images. In this study, spatial resolution and linearity of five rec...
Penetrable Numerical Modeling of Metallic Nanoparticles at Terahertz Frequencies
İbili, Hande; Karaosmanoglu, B.; Ergül, Özgür Salih (2018-08-04)
Numerical solutions of electromagnetic problems involving nanostructures at terahertz (THz) frequencies are considered. We particularly focus on nanoparticles that are made of typical metals at the lower THz frequencies. Even though the frequency is relatively low, we show that penetrable models are needed for accurately representing electromagnetic characteristics, especially to predict penetrating magnetic fields inside small particles. Due to large permittivity values with negative real parts, stable for...
On the Accuracy of Spectral Element Method in Electromagnetic Scattering Problems
Mahariq, İbrahim; Tarman, Işık Hakan; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (2014-12-01)
Spectral element method (SEM), which is known of its high accuracy, has been recently applied in solving electromagnetic problems governed by Maxwell’s equations. This paper investigates the accuracy of SEM in twodimensional, frequency-domain electromagnetic scattering problems where Helmholtz equation acts as the governing partial differential equation (PDE). As experience in meshing a problem in finite element method is important to obtain accurate results, the choice of elements in SEM, on the other hand...
