Effect of Au on the crystallization of germanium thin films by electron-beam evaporation
EYGİ, ZEYNEP DENİZ; KULAKCI, MUSTAFA; Turan, Raşit (2014-11-01)
Metal induced crystallization is a widely used method to form crystalline/polycrystalline structures at low temperatures. In this work, Au was applied to enhance the crystallization of amorphous Ge films. Ge films with thicknesses of similar to 1.5 mu m were fabricated by electron beam evaporation on c-Si substrate with and without very thin Au layer. Crystallization properties of Ge films were analyzed for different growth and post annealing temperatures varied between 270 degrees C and 730 degrees C. The ...
Effect of vanadium on atomic ordering characteristics and anti-phase boundary energies of B2-FeCo alloys
AYKOL, Muratahan; Mehrabov, Amdulla; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat (Elsevier BV, 2010-05-01)
Effect of V on the energetical and structural characteristics of atomic ordering processes of B2-FeCo intermetallics have been investigated via electronic theory of multi-component alloys combined with Monte Carlo (MC) simulations. Emphasis has been placed on the variation of anti-phase boundary (APB) energies with V content and temperature to establish a relationship between ductility and atomic ordering characteristics of (FeCo)(100-x)V(x) (x = 0-5 at%) alloys. It was shown that APB energies are highly af...
Effect of Y Addition on the Structural Properties and Oxidation Behavior of Fe60Al40-nYn Alloys (n=1, 3, and 5 at.%)
Yildirim, Mehmet; Atas, Mehmet Sahin; Akdeniz, Mahmut Vedat; Mehrabov, Amdulla (2022-04-01)
The influence of Y addition on the microstructural features, phase relationships, hardness, magnetic behaviour and cyclic oxidation performance of Fe60Al40-nYn alloys (n = 1, 3, and 5 at.%) has been examined in detail. Al8Fe4Y phase formed even at 1 at.% Y addition because of the limited solid solubility of Y in the FeAl-based phase. For all the examined compositions, the Al8Fe4Y phase developed a eutectic with the FeAl-based phase and its volume fraction increased with increasing Y up to 5 at.%, which is n...
Effect of YF3 on the phase stability and sinterability of hydroxyapatite-Partially stabilized zirconia composites
Aykul, Anil; KUTBAY, IŞIL; Evis, Zafer; USTA, Metin (Elsevier BV, 2013-09-01)
Pure hydroxyapatite (HA), HA and partially stabilized zirconia composites (PSZ) with YF3 and HA-PSZ composite containing 5 wt% PSZ without YF3 were sintered in air at 900 degrees C, 1100 degrees C and 1300 degrees C for 1 h. The reactions and transformation of the phases in the composites were determined by X-ray diffraction. All the composites with or without YF3 showed desirable thermal stability below 1300 degrees C and besides various amounts of CaZrO3, any amount of tri-calcium phosphate (TCP) was not ...
Effect of Nb addition on the critical parameters of BSCCO superconductor
Sozeri, H.; Ghazanfari, N.; Oezkan, H.; Kılıç, Adnan; Hasanlı, Nızamı (2007-04-12)
Pure and Nb2O5 added Bi1.6Pb0.4NbxSr2Ca2Cu3O delta superconductors (0 <= x <= 0.30) were synthesized by the ammonium nitrate melt route. Fraction of the high T-c 2223 phase increases with addition of small amounts of Nb. AC susceptibility and transport measurements showed the optimum Nb concentration as x = 0.10. Nb additions above x = 0.20 decrease significantly the fraction of the high-T-c phase and degrade the superconducting properties.
