Creep behaviour analysis of thin spray-on liners
Güner, Doğukan; Öztürk, Hasan; Department of Mining Engineering (2020)
Thin Spray-on Liner (TSL) is a relatively thin (2–5 mm) and fast-setting liner material used by spraying onto rock surfaces to support underground excavations. Areal support materials that are sprayed onto the rock, such as shotcrete or liners, are able to generate support resistance at small rock deformations and can prevent underground rockfalls from happening in the first place. However, where large ground convergence occurs, the more flexible TSLs may provide superior support over the full range of rock...
Experimental and numerical analysis of effect of curing time on mechanical properties of thin spray-on liners
Güner, Doğukan; Öztürk, Hasan; Department of Mining Engineering (2014)
This research study investigates the effect of curing time on elastic material properties (Young’s modulus, Poisson’s ratio) and tensile, compressive strength of thin spray on liners (TSL). TSLs are fast curing, comparatively thin (3-5mm) and widely used rock support system in mining and civil engineering excavations. They have advantages of low volume, rapid application and low operating cost. The major ingredients of current TSLs are divided as polyurethane/ polyurea or Portland cement based latex product...
Püskürtülen ince kaplamalar ve yapışmalarına etki eden faktörler
Öztürk, Hasan (2011-12-01)
In this study, some information is given on the TSL’s (thin spray on liner) use, structure, and support functions. In addition, adhesive strength tests are conducted to assess the effect of environmental conditions on TSL adhesion. The presence of oil, water and dust on a substrate and the roughness and grain size properties of different substrates are evaluated. All the tests are performed using Tekflex liner material. Adhesive strengths of about 1.8 MPa can be achieved with Tekflex under optimal condition...
Heat damage assessment of carbon fiber reinforced polymer composites by diffuse reflectance infrared fourier transform spectroscopy
Dara, İlksen Hilal; Ankara, Alpay; Akovalı, Güneri; Department of Polymer Science and Technology (2002)
Diffuse reflectance infrared Fourier transform (DRIFT) spectroscopy was used to assess the effects of heat damage on carbon fiber reinforced polymer (CFRP) composites in this thesis study. Moisture saturated carbon-epoxy laminates were heat damaged above their upper service temperature. Loss of matrix dominated mechanical properties due to heat exposure was investigated in laboratory environmental testing conditions using mechanical tests, ultrasonic C-scanning and DRIFT spectroscopy. DRIFT spectroscopy was...
A low-drift silicon MEMS resonant accelerometer
Gavcar, Hasan Doğan; Akın, Tayfun; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2023-1-23)
This thesis presents the design, fabrication, and experimental verification of low temperature drift silicon resonant accelerometers for tactical grade applications. The working principle of a silicon resonant accelerometer is based on force sensing, in which the sensor output is a frequency proportional to the input acceleration. The stress-insensitive sensor design prevents the thermal stress produced by the mismatch of the thermal expansion coefficients (CTE) of glass and silicon from transmitting to the...
