LIPSS for SERS: Metal Coated Direct Laser Written Periodic Nanostructures for Surface Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy
Erkizan, Serena Nur; İdikut, Fırat; Demirtas, Ozge; Goodarzi, Arian; Demir, Ahmet Kemal; Borra, Mona; Pavlov, Ihor; Bek, Alpan (2022-09-01)
A novel method of fabricating large-area, low-cost surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS) substrates is introduced which yields densely nanostructured surfaces utilizing laser-induced periodic surface structuring (LIPSS) of crystalline silicon (Si). Two different interaction regimes yield low spatial frequency (LSFL) and high spatial frequency (HSFL) LIPSS patterns. Nanostructuring of Si surface is followed by deposition of a thin noble metal layer to complete the fabrication procedure. A 50-70 nm thick...
Hardware in the Loop Wind Turbine Emulator
Muntean, Nicolae; Tutelea, Lucian; Petrila, Diana; Pelan, Ovidiu (2011-09-10)
The paper presents a "hardware in the loop" emulator for a wind turbine system, used to tune and test in the laboratory the generator and the associate power electronics and control. The emulator includes: a Alatlab/Simulink model of the wind turbine, an a.c. drive with direct torque control (the wind turbine equivalent) coupled with the real generator and the corresponding load. Digital simulations compared with experimental results arc presented to validate the wind turbine emulator.
Stride-to-stride energy regulation for robust self-stability of a torque-actuated dissipative spring-mass hopper
Ankaralı, Mustafa Mert; Saranlı, Uluç (2010-09-01)
In this paper, we analyze the self-stability properties of planar running with a dissipative spring-mass model driven by torque actuation at the hip. We first show that a two-dimensional, approximate analytic return map for uncontrolled locomotion with this system under a fixed touchdown leg angle policy and an open-loop ramp torque profile exhibits only marginal self-stability that does not always persist for the exact system. We then propose a per-stride feedback strategy for the hip torque that explicitl...
Gan-based robust low-noise amplifier
Kazan, Oğuz; Aydın Çivi, Hatice Özlem; Koçer, Fatih; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2018)
This thesis presents the theory, design and evaluation of low-noise amplifiers (LNAs) with high input power immunity, built on GaN/SiC substrate. Two separate X-band (8-12 GHz) LNAs are designed and sent out for production. After the manufactured samples are received, they are measured and evaluated. Measurement results show that both LNAs have a gain of more than 20 dB. One LNA achieves a noise figure of less than 2 dB, while the second one has a noise figure of less than 2.5 dB. Using three-stage topology...
