Advances in optimal control of markov regime-switching models with applications in finance and economics
Savku, Emel; Weber, Gerhard Wilhelm; Department of Financial Mathematics (2017)
We study stochastic optimal control problems of finance and economics in a Markov regime-switching jump-diffusion market with and without delay component in the dynamics of our model. We formulate portfolio optimization problems as a two player zero-sum and a two player nonzero-sum stochastic differential games. We provide an extension of Dynkin formula to present the Hamilton-Jacobi-Bellman-Isaacs equations in such a more general setting. We illustrate our results for a nonzero-sum stochastic differential ...

Advances in limnological research in Earth's drylands
Barbosa, Luciana G.; Alves Amorım, Cıhelıo; Parra, Gema; Laco Portinho, Jorge; Morais, Manuela; Morales, Eduardo A.; Menezes, Rosemberg Fernandes (2020-10-01)
Drought is an important driver of change in aquatic ecosystems and generally acts as a filter to select biological traits capable of persisting under severe environmental circumstances. Drylands are highly vulnerable to climate change and increases in climate variability. Consequently, an increase in the processes of eutrophication, salinization, and habitat desiccation may be observed in response to the loss of the hydrological connectivity. The International Network on Limnology of Drylands (INLD) was cre...
Advances in microbial food safety
Kahyaoğlu, Leyla Nesrin (2013-07-01)
Viruses are common causes of foodborne outbreaks. Viral diseases have low fatality rates but transmission to humans via food is important due to the high probability of consuming fecally contaminated food or water because of poor food handling. Because of the low infectious doses of some foodborne viruses, there is a need for standardization and the development of new sensitive methods for detecting viruses. The focus is on molecular and non- molecular approaches, and emerging methods for the detection of f...
