The Development of Belief Scale about Using Origami in Mathematics Education
Arslan, Okan; Işıksal Bostan, Mine; Şahin, Elvan (2013-01-01)
This study aims to develop valid and reliable scale in order to measure preservice teachers' beliefs towards using origami in mathematics education. Origami in Mathematics Education Belief Scale which consists of 27 items with 6 point Likert type was administered to 143 preservice elementary mathematics teachers and obtained data was analyzed with exploratory factor analysis. According to analysis results, one item was deleted and some items were revised. After these revisions, the scale consists of 26 item...
Investigating Sources of Pre Service Teachers Self Efficacy For Preparing And Implementing Mathematical Tasks
YÜREKLİ, BİLGE; Işıksal Bostan, Mine; Çakıroğlu, Erdinç (2015-02-04)
The goal of this study was to understand pre-service teachers' self-efficacy beliefs for preparing and implementing mathematical tasks and to explore which sources of self-efficacy they wighted and interpreted when judging their capabilities as a result of attending a mathematics teaching methods course designed with a focus on mathematics teaching through tasks. Nine pre-service teachers participated in this study and they were interviewed at the end of the methods course. Findings revealed that methods co...

The control group was taught using a lecture-based traditional instruction and experimental group was taught using educational software, name...
An Investigation of pre-service mathematics teachers’ mathematizing during a mathematical modeling task
Kol, Murat; Erbaş, Ayhan Kürşat; Department of Secondary Science and Mathematics Education (2014)
The purpose of this study was to investigate pre-service mathematics teachers’ mathematization process in a mathematical modeling activity. The process was investigated in two different levels of mathematization based on Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) framework namely, horizontal mathematization and vertical mathematization. This study designed as a case study. The participants of the study were six pre-service elementary mathematics teachers enrolled in a course entitled “Mathematical Modeling for T...
