The Critical success factors for manufacturing execution systems (mes) adoption in Turkey defense industry: an industrial case study
Yavuz, Hasan; Akçomak, İbrahim Semih; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2018)
The main objective of this thesis is to investigate the Critical Success Factors (CSFs) of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) adoption using the case of a Turkish defense industry firm with both a quantitative and a qualitative research design. After the critical factors that are used in the adoption and implementation assessment in different countries and sectors are determined in the literature, about one hundred questionnaires and five interviews are conducted at a defense industry firm. The thesis dr...
Evaluating research performance of Turkish universities
Tekneci, Pelin Deniz; Taymaz, Erol; Department of Science and Technology Policy Studies (2014)
This dissertation employs different methodologies to evaluate research performance of 94 Turkish universities over the period between 2008 and 2010, compares their results, and identifies factors that enhance their performance. It consists of three papers revolving around the research performance of Turkish universities. First, we apply different Data Envelopment Analysis models and identify the best-fitting model. Second, we investigate the impact of selected factors on different research outputs using pan...
Towards the non-ergodic ground motion models of Turkey: Assessment of systematic site, source and path effects
Önder, Fatih Mehmet; Gülerce, Zeynep; Özacar, Atilla Arda; Department of Civil Engineering (2022-8)
Ground Motion Models (GMMs) and their standard deviations (σ) are the most significant contributors of the median ground motions and their variability that are estimated in Probabilistic Seismic Hazard Analysis (PSHA). Most of the GMMs used in the current practice were derived from the datasets that include recordings from multiple sites attenuating from different seismic sources; therefore, the standard deviation of these GMMs includes the spatial and temporal variability of ground motions based on the erg...
Micro-level analysis of unregistered employment in Turkey with group comparisons
İner, Mehmet; Akkaya, Ayşen D.; Department of Statistics (2019)
Group comparison of logistic regression models in a similar way with OLS is manipulating depending on the unobserved heterogeneity in logistic regression. In this sense, this study focuses on the group comparison problem in logistic regression. In order to get to the root of the comparison problem in logistic regression, the theoretical background of the logistic regression is explained with the latent propensity interpretation in which the extent of the dependent variable’s closeness to success is taken in...
Finite element analysis of laboratory model experiments on behavior of shallow foundations under general loading
Oktay, Hasan Emre; Bakır, Bahadır Sadık; Department of Civil Engineering (2012)
In this study, a series of laboratory model experiments carried on shallow foundations is intended to be simulated through numerical modeling. The laboratory model tests were conducted by Fukui et al. (2005), over square shaped, shallow surfacial foundations located over air-dried Toyoura sand. Tests included centered vertical and combined loading cases on sand with 60% and 80% relative densities. Plastic limit loads obtained from numerical analyses and available analytical solutions in literature are compa...
