Dizel motorlarda partikül filtresi, Euro4 yasal zorunluluklarını yerine getirmek için kullanılır. Partikül filtresi yanma sonucu egzoz gazında oluşan partikül madde, azotoksitler (NO2), hidrokarbonlar (HC) ve karbonmonoksitler (CO) gibi önemli kirletici maddeleri azaltır. Filtrede biriken kül partiküller belli periyodlarda egzoz gazı sıcaklığının 5500C üzerine çıkarılması ile yakılırlar. Bu işleme “Yenileme” (Rejenerasyon) denir. Bu çalışmada Euro-4 partikül filtreli dizel araçlarda rejenerasyonun sık sık kesilmesi nedeniyle yakıtın dizel motor yağına karışarak seyrelmesi ve seviyesinin yükselmesinin mekanizması ve gerekli önlemler incelenmektedir.

Performance analysis of a compression ignition internal combustion engine using superheated ethanol vapor
Aksu, Çağdaş; Bayka, Ahmet Demir; Department of Mechanical Engineering (2011)
The aim of this study is to experimentally measure performance characteristics of a compression ignition (CI) internal combustion engine using superheated ethanol vapor. The engine is a 1.3L inline 4 cylinder direct injection (DI) turbocharged compression ignition (CI) engine. While the engine will be fed with superheated ethanol as homogeneous fuel-air mixture through intake manifold, the amount of diesel fuel that the engine requires to run at idle will also be supplied in order to initiate combustion. Et...
Computational fluid dynamics simulation of the combustion process, emission formation and the flow field in an in-direct injection diesel engine
Barzegar, Ramin; Shafee, Sina; Khalilarya, Shahram (National Library of Serbia, 2013)
In the present paper, the combustion process and emission formation in the Lister 8.1 in-direct injection diesel engine have been investigated using a computational fluid dynamics code. The utilized model includes detailed spray atomization, mixture formation and distribution model which enable modeling the combustion process in spray/wall and spray/swirl interactions along with flow configurations. The analysis considers both part load and full load states. The global properties are presented separately re...
Surrogate model based system identification and control of gas turbine engines
Ekinci, Sinan; Yavrucuk, İlkay; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2019)
The focus of this thesis is on small low-cost turbojet engines where the fuel flow is provided by a gear-type fuel pump rather than a more traditional fuel metering unit. The incorporation of such type of fuel flow actuation devices introduces additional nonlinearities into the modeling and control of the small turbojet engines. As an alternative solution, this thesis presents and applies online/offline parameter estimation and adaptive control methods to such sub-class turbojet engines. For the simulation ...
Thermodynamic and structural design and analysis of a novel turbo rotary engine
Ercan, Taylan; Akmandor, İbrahim Sinan; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2005)
A novel turbo rotary engine, operating according to a novel thermodynamic cycle, having an efficient compression phase, a limited temperature combustion phase followed by a long power extraction phase is designed. Thermodynamic and structural design and analysis of this novel engine is carried out and two prototypes are manufactured according to these analysis. High performance figures such as torque, power and low specific fuel consumption are calculated. Also the component tests of the manufactured protot...
Autothermal reforming of petroleum fractions
Arslan Bozdağ, Arzu; Sezgi, Naime Aslı; Department of Chemical Engineering (2019)
On site and on-demand hydrogen production through diesel autothermal (ATR) and steam reforming (DSR) reactions are attractive routes for both stationary and mobile auxiliary power unit applications (APUs). Maximization of H2 production with coke minimization for cheap and active Ni/Al2O3 catalysts was investigated with incorporation of different metals/metal oxides to Ni/Al2O3 catalyst in DSR and ATR reactions. Two different synthesis techniques which are impregnation of metal/metal oxides to commercial Al2...
