Analysis and design of wideband antenna arrays
Çapraz, Kenan; Alatan, Lale; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2014)
Two methods of wideband array design are studied. The aim of this study is to investigate arrays with aperiodic spacings which are designed with these methods in order to obtain wideband behavior. These methods are genetic algorithm and wavelength scaled arrays that have active regions with variable interelement spacings. Genetic algorithm is utilized for array antennas with aperiodic spacing to optimize sidelobe levels of the antenna array in wide frequency band. Wavelength scaled spacing concept in design...

Analysis and design of reactively loaded dual band microstrip antenna
Bayram, Caner; Koç, Seyit Sencer; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2015)
This thesis includes the design, production and measurement of a reactively loaded microstrip patch antenna. The dual band and circular polarization operation are achieved through the use of narrow slots etched close to the radiating edges on a nearly square patch. During the design process, the effects of antenna parameters on the input impedance and axial ratio characteristics are investigated. A step-by-step procedure is followed during the design process. First, the dual band characteristic is investiga...
Analysis and design of cylindrically conformal microstrip antennas
Taşoğlu, Ali Özgür; Dural Ünver, Mevlüde Gülbin; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2011)
Cylindrically conformal microstrip antennas are investigated. Two different structures, namely proximity coupled and E-shaped microstrip antennas are analyzed and information about the design parameters is obtained by means of parametric study. With these structures, cylindrical arrays, having omnidirectional radiation in the circumferential plane of the cylinder, are designed. Proximity coupled cylindrical arrays operate in the 2.3-2.4 GHz aeronautical telemetry band with approximately 4% bandwidth. On the...
