This study was conducted to examine the reflections of a local issue about management of nuclear wastes in the context of sustainable development, especially environmental, social and cultural and economic perspectives. In this aspect, the local issue about a nuclear threat in Turkey was analyzed with respect to the opinions of residents’ (n=5) and expert’s (n=1) as well as the documents (such as news, declarations). The analyses of the data revealed that although there were various distinct views about this local issue to actualize effective action plan, it was noteworthy to pay attention all of the pillars of sustainable development in encouraging active citizenship.
