Efes Beverage Group makes location and distribution decisions for its malt plants
Koksalan, M; Süral, Haldun (Institute for Operations Research and the Management Sciences (INFORMS), 1999-03-01)
We conducted a study for Efes Beverage Group to evaluate various sites as potential locations for new malt plants. We performed an economic analysis that showed the inferiority of some alternatives. To evaluate the remaining alternatives, we developed. a mixed-integer-programming model that considers both the location of new malt plants and the distribution of barley and malt. It considers the long-run effects of the decisions and minimizes the present value of total costs. Sakarya, Izmir, and Ankara turned...

ANKOS Publisher Application System and Its Impact on the e-Resource Evaluation Process
Bulut, Burcu Pınar; Uğur, Handan; Gurdal, Gultekin; Holt, Ilkay; Cukadar, Sami; Akbayrak, Emre H.; ÇELEBİ, MUSTAFA KEMAL (2013-03-01)
The Publisher Application System (PAS) is a Web-based archiving and online evaluation system developed by the Database Evaluation Group (DEG), one of the working groups formed within the Anatolian University Libraries Consortium (ANKOS). The DEG was formed in 2008 to inquire and evaluate e-resources suited to the needs of the consortium; to follow up similar consortial activities worldwide as well as developments in connection with the scientific publishing industry; and to determine, implement, and improve...
ARFED: Attack-Resistant Federated averaging based on outlier elimination
Işık Polat, Ece; Polat, Gorkem; Koçyiğit, Altan (2023-04-01)
In federated learning, each participant trains its local model with its own data and a global model is formed at a trusted server by aggregating model updates coming from these participants. Since the server has no effect and visibility on the training procedure of the participants to ensure privacy, the global model becomes vulnerable to attacks such as data poisoning and model poisoning. Although many defense algorithms have recently been proposed to address these attacks, they often make strong assumptio...
InGaAs nBn SWIR detector design with lattice-matched InAlGaAs barrier
Uzgur, Fatih; Kocaman, Serdar (2019-01-01)
Dark current optimization with band gap engineering has been numerically studied for InGaAs nBn type infrared photodetectors. Undoped InAlGaAs grading layers are utilized in constructing the barrier and dipole delta-doped layers are placed in both sides of the graded layers for eliminating valence band offset. As a result, the high band gap barrier layer blocks the majority carriers and allows minority carrier flow while minimizing various dark current components, as expected from an nBn detector. Substanti...
