Too big to manage: US megabanks' competition by innovation and the microfoundations of financialization
Vielma, Nicole Cerpa; Cömert, Hasan; D'avino, Carmela; Dymski, Gary; Kaltenbrunner, Annina; Petratou, Eirini; Shabani, Mimoza (2019-07-01)
Disagreements over the systemic implications-the future-of financialization can be traced in part to the absence of sustained attention to the role of banking firms in driving this secular shift forward. That is, the financialization literature lacks an adequate microfoundation. Accounting for the drivers of financialization processes solely at the macro level overlooks the problems of how these processes came about and whether they are sustainable. This paper addresses this explanatory gap, arguing that a ...
Too little, Too late: Addressing the Roles of A School Safety Programme in Earthquake Preparedness of Elementary Students in Turkey
Yılmaz, Elanur (2021-08-01)
Earthquake preparedness is a critical part of developing a sustainable community concerning reducing vulnerability to earthquakes. This study focuses on reducing children's vulnerability, particularly through a school safety earthquake program, to increase their physical and emotional preparedness for children against earthquakes. A comparative case study is designed to explore the roles of the integration of non-formal and informal learning into formal education in raising school children's earthquake prep...

UNSTEADY AERODYNAMICS OF PLUNGING AND STATIONARY SYMMETRIC AIRFOILS AT LOW REYNOLDS NUMBERS
Peerzada, Kifa; Kurtuluş, Dilek Funda; Department of Aerospace Engineering (2023-1-10)
The unsteady behavior of the flow around a symmetric NACA 0014 airfoil is analyzed taking into consideration an oscillating motion in a sinusoidal pure-plunge mode as well as the stationary condition. Numerical simulations are performed by incorporating the two-dimensional unsteady, incompressible Navier-Stokes equation at Reynolds number (Re) = 10^4. The flow is visualized at the following two angle of attacks: 0^° and 4^°. The flow is assumed to be laminar at this Reynolds number. Flow properties such as:...
