IMOTION — A Content-based video retrieval engine
Rossetto, Luca; Giangreco, Ivan; Schuldt, Heiko; Dupont, Stephane; Seddati, Omar; Sezgin, Metin; Sahillioğlu, Yusuf (2015-01-05)
This paper introduces the IMOTION system, a sketch-based video retrieval engine supporting multiple query paradigms. For vector space retrieval, the IMOTION system exploits a large variety of low-level image and video features, as well as high-level spatial and temporal features that can all be jointly used in any combination. In addition, it supports dedicated motion features to allow for the specification of motion within a video sequence. For query specification, the IMOTION system supports query-by-sket...
InSb AND InAsSb infrared photodiodes on alternative substrates and InP/InGaAs quantum well infrared photodetectors : pixel and focal plane array performance
Özer, Selçuk; Beşikci, Cengiz; Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (2005)
InAsxSb1-x (Indium Arsenide Antimonide) is an important low bandgap semiconductor whose high quality growth on GaAs or Si substrates is indispensible for low cost, large format infrared focal plane arrays (FPAs). Quantum well infrared photodetector (QWIP) technology, relying on mature semiconductors, is also promising for the above purpose. While AlGaAs/GaAs has been the standard material system for QWIPs, the search for alternative materials is needed for better performance. This thesis reports a detailed ...
IImpact of friction pendulum bearings on the seismic retrofitting cost of typical bridges with wall type piers in the state of illinois
Dicleli, Murat; Mokha, Anoop; Zayas, Victor; Constantinou, Michael C. (null; 2003-08-10)
The economical efficiency of friction pendulum bearings (FPB) for seismic retrofitting of typical Illinois bridges with wall type piers is studied. A typical bridge with heavy wall piers was carefully selected by Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) for the purpose of this study. The seismic analysis of the bridge revealed that the bearings, and substructures of the bridge are vulnerable and need to be retrofitted. A conventional retrofitting strategy is developed for the bridge and the cost of retr...
IMF Programmes Fiscal Policy and Growth Investigation of Macroeconomic Alternatives in an OLG Model of Growth for Turkey1
Voyvoda, Ebru (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 2005-03-01)
In this paper, we investigate the fiscal policy alternatives on domestic debt management and public expenditures on education, cohort welfare, and growth for the Turkish economy. We utilise a growth model in the overlapping generations (OLG) tradition with intertemporally optimising agents and open capital markets, calibrated to the Turkish economy in 1990s. We examine the macroeconomic effects of the current IMF-led austerity programme driven by the objective of attaining primary fiscal surpluses and illus...
EMC considerations in the design of a unified relocatable SVC for open-cast lignite mining in Turkey
Terciyanli, A; Ermiş, Muammer; Gultekin, B; Tor, OB; Yorukoglu, M (2003-05-16)
EMC considerations in the design and implementation of a unified relocatable SVC for a open-cast lignite mining in Turkey have been presented. A successful SVC layout is found to be an important design objective for EMI immunity. Closed loops that can be formed by copper grounding bars and guard fence around air-core thyristor controlled reactors are to be avoided in the design and implementation. This paper also summarizes the experience gained in the formation of medium-voltage protective and electronic g...
