Optimization of Power Conversion Efficiency in Threshold Self-Compensated UHF Rectifiers With Charge Conservation Principle
Gharehbaghi, Kaveh; KOÇER, FATİH; Külah, Haluk (2017-09-01)
This paper presents a compact model for threshold self-compensated rectifiers that can be used to optimize circuit parameters early in the design phase instead of time-consuming transient simulations. A design procedure is presented for finding the optimum aspect ratio of transistors used in the converter and number of rectifying stages to achieve the maximum power conversion efficiency. In the presented analysis, the relation between the power conversion efficiency and the load current over the variation o...
Comparison of response surface methodology and the proposed Weibull model for inactivation of Listeria innocua by high hydrostatic pressure
BUZRUL, Sencer; CEVIK, Mete; Alpas, Hami (Wiley, 2008-02-01)
Published inactivation data of Listeria innocua by high hydrostatic pressure (HHP) were used to compare the prediction capabilities of response surface methodology (RSM) and the proposed Weibull model. A quadratic function was used for the secondary modeling of the reduced Weibull model's time constant parameter so that this model consisted of pressure, temperature and time just like RSM equation. Application of each model was shown separately. The usability, differences and similarities of these models wer...
Analysis of reinforced concrete columns retrofitted with fiber reinforced polymer lamina
Binici, Barış (2007-01-01)
Fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) lamina have been used widely in the last decade to enhance strength and deformation capacity of deficient reinforced concrete (RC) columns. Seismic assessment and retrofit of existing columns in buildings and bridge piers necessitate accurate prediction of the available deformation capacity. In this study, a new analytical model is proposed to represent potential plastic hinge regions of RC columns prior to and after FRP retrofit. A recently developed variable confined concret...
Comparison of linear and quadratic hexahedral edge elements in electromagnetic scattering problems
Yılmaz, Ayşen; Kuzuoğlu, Mustafa (2008-01-01)
In this article, performances of linear and quadratic hexahedral edge elements are compared in the context of electromagnetic scattering problems. The de-facto standard of 0.1 lambda element size for linear elements is taken as a basis; and 0.3 to 0.4 lambda-size quadratic element usage is proposed for a better accuracy level with dramatic reduction in computation time and 7 memory. The proposed scheme is applied to some well-known practical problems. (c) 2007 Elsevier GmbH. All rights reserved.
Optimum design of steel space frames via bat inspired algorithm
Hasançebi, Oğuzhan (null; 2013-05-19)
Design optimization of steel space frames is a very popular topic in structural engineering due to economy saved in cost of the structures by optimization process. Although the final cost of a steel frame is affected by many factors, such as material, manufacturing, erection and transportation costs, the material cost of steel comprises a great deal of overall cost of the structure. Hence, the design optimization of steel frames is focused on weight minimization in the literature based on the assumption tha...
