DETERMINATION OF SELENIUM IN DIET BY ZEEMAN EFFECT GRAPHITE-FURNACE ATOMIC-ABSORPTION SPECTROMETRY FOR CALCULATION OF DAILY DIETARY INTAKES
ARI, U; Volkan, Mürvet; ARAS, NK (American Chemical Society (ACS), 1991-12-01)
The selenium content of Turkish diets was determined by Zeeman effect graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). Samples, collected from two different socioeconomic groups by duplicate portion technique, were digested with concentrated nitric acid in acid bombs, and hydrogen peroxide was added for complete oxidation. The digested solutions were then analyzed by GFAAS with the nickel chemical modifier addition. The detection limit for Se(VI) was 10.5 ng/mL for aqueous standard solutions. Averag...

Determination of minor and trace elements in Turkish diet by duplicate portion technique
Parr, R. M.; Mumcu, Taşkın; Gökmen, İnci; Gökmen, Ayfle Filiz; Aras, Namık Kemal (Springer Science and Business Media LLC, 1988-10)
The minor and trace element content of diet samples from two different social population groups were determined. Samples were prepared by duplicate portion technique by colecting everything 16 subjects ate and drank during a 3-day period. Samples were homogenized, freeze-dried and elemental concentrations of Br, Co, Cr, Cs, Fe, K, Na, Rb, Sc, Se and Zn were determined by instrumental neutron activation analysis. Elemental concentrations and daily dietary intake of the elements were compared with the diets o...
